They have been know as a dominant team and play a national schedule that tests them to their highest capabilities. This season, the play of Kyla Jones has stood out and has taken them to that next level. Jones has multiple Division I offers and has visits scheduled to those schools after the season ends. Once those visits are completed, Jones will make the much anticipated decision on where to play her college ball.
Coaches love how Jones plays as she is a quick guard with the ability to score the ball from all three levels. The 5’9 senior is versatile with the way that she could play three different spots on the court if she needed to do so. Very good vision with the ball and ability to attack. Great speed with the ball and forces the defender onto their heels often. Jones is a player who will be even better at the next level. Jones tells me that she is playing solidly this year and has had a good experience with all of the places that they have gone to play.
“I think it’s going great so far. We’ve participated in the Best of Michigan (Detroit), Tarkanian Classic (Las Vegas), Rose Classic (New York), and Chicagoland Classic (Lisle). All tournaments in which I have been MVP or selected to the All Tournament Team. I feel as though all my coaches have worked with me in a few areas of my game that have allowed me to become a better and more consistent player this year. It’s really paying off.”
Jones feels like she is getting better throughout the year and that isn’t good news for her opponents. While Jones can really fill it up on the offensive end, she is working hard to better her defense. She’s already a solid rebounder but is looking to better that aspect of her game going forward. With such quick hands and basketball IQ, Jones is looking to further the ability that she has to swipe the ball. She has the potential to be a really good two-way player.
After her visits, Jones will make her decision. She knows what she is looking for in a future school and won’t stop until she ends up getting it. She’s a really solid player who will be made better by the future college that she attends. There is still a lot of untapped potential in Jones’ game.
“Academics are definitely very important to me,” Jones said of what she’s looking for at the next level. “A great coaching staff and teammates are also important to me. I want to be somewhere that will make me feel at home while i’m away. Campus life environment will also play a key role in my college decision.”
