Length and size was in the building and performing huge on all age levels this weekend. Here is a look at some of the top post players from the LBI May Madness event.
Alana Micheaux 2021, 1 Nation – The 6’3 post player continues to grow into her own. She has a college ready body and is usually able to out jump opponents for rebounds and is quick and decisive when the ball is dumped down to her. Micheaux already has multiple division 1 offers and that is going to continue to grown as she shows off her motor and athletic ability.
Armoni Strozier 2023 6’1, Michigan Storm – This weekend was my introduction to Strozier. Her game is a few years beyond her age, she was able to show off some good moves and drop steps with the ball in her hands and able to finish through a lot of contact. Strozier is going to be dangerous as she gets older with her already strong game, her ceiling is high and so is her floor.
Jenna Riccardo 2020 6’1, West PA Bruins – High motor best describes Ricardo’s game, she was outstanding on the boards and was able to put the ball back in the hoop. Riccardo is super active and as a result she sticks out on the floor. Not your traditional back to basket big but any college could use the services of a big who can also be a slasher if needed.
Caprice Augustine 2021 6’3, 1 Nation – Augustine has had a coming out party in her last two tournaments, she has shown an arsenal of post moves and strength to get put backs. She is a big body but runs the floor and even switches on to perimeter players. She seals easily and that allows her to get her shot off easily as well.
Kayla Oldacre 2022 6’4, All Ohio express – In all of my post tournament coverage I have mentioned Oldacre. It is my belief that Oldacre is a high major Division 1 recruit righ now. She was one of the top post prospect based on her measurable, but then you watch her play and she is a true game changer. Oldacre is going to be good for years to come with a smooth hand and strength to finish through fouls she can be special.
