Prospect Spotlight: Rain Peyton (2020)
Hundreds, if not thousands, of basketball players each year in Oklahoma vie to play college basketball each year. One of those players in the 2020 class is Rain Peyton. The 5’7 shooting guard from Piedmont High School is putting in the work to become one of those few hundred that realize their dreams. This past season was a good one for Peyton and she expressed to me that she was happy with how the year went.
“This past high school season was one of the best seasons of basketball I have ever played.,” Peyton said. “My team is the best team anyone could ever ask for. We became a family and won and state title together as a family. I couldn’t ask for anything else as a player.”
This summer Peyton is looking to show her game off to college coaches. She has been playing well so far this year and is starting to become a more well rounded player. This summer she is working on becoming a better scorer at all three levels. Peyton is also working on becoming a better defender so that she can become a two way threat on the floor. Peyton’s goal this summer is to also stay healthy with no injuries.
“My AAU season, so far, is going pretty well,” said Peyton. “I am playing for the C&A OK Respect and we are doing pretty well.”
Peyton is trying to garner some college interest this summer and with continued good play, she will start to attract coaches. She told me that she doesn’t have a ton of interest right now but I expect that to change over the next couple of months. Peyton is a high academic student and has a passion for the game, she surely will be able to help out a college in the very near future.
