Several of the top teams in the state were in attendance, which created some great games with high-level players. Here are some players that stood out in the class of 2020:
Darrione Rogers (Mac Irvin Fire 17 Godfather) – The 5’10’’ DePaul commit from Lake Park HS is a strong Guard that is lights out from beyond the arc. Rogers also showed the ability to get in the lane and finish well in traffic with her strength.
Kayla Green (Mac Irvin Fire 17 Godfather) – Green is a 5’3’’ dynamic PG from Whitney Young that has a great feel with the ball in her hands. She has the explosiveness to get past her defender and create separation in the lane. Plus shooter from deep and a good mid-range jump shot.
Jayla Turchin (Mac Irvin Fire 17 Godfather) – A 5’8’’ Forward from Evanston, Turchin is a very intriguing prospect. Most of her work is done in the lane with her quick feet and array of post moves. For a Forward, she also can handle the ball well and knock down shots from three.
Maya Wong (Midwest Elite 17 EYBL) – The 5’8’’ Illinois State commit from Normal Community is a very well-rounded PG. Wong can handle it well with quickness and has excellent court vision. Also has active hands on defense and can shoot it well from beyond the three point line.
Madyson Harper (Midwest Elite 17 Cox) – Harper is a smooth 5’7’’ PG from Delavan/Midwest Central that can handle the ball as well as anyone. She is crafty in the lane and does a nice job of getting teammates involved. Also can knock down shots from deep.
Tinah Hong (All In 17 Schoenbeck) – The 5’8’’ Guard from New Trier is a quick PG that handles the ball well and under control. Very fluent in the transition game. Active hands on defense. Plus shooter for a PG.
Avery King (All In 17 Schoenbeck) – King is an athletic 5’11’’ Guard from Stevenson HS with a good-looking shot. She moves well without the ball and runs the floor naturally. Solid on-ball defender.
