Some of the young ladies I’ve seen countless times, many before they played their first middle school game but here are 5 that pooped in my head from the event
Destini Lombard2020
Destini Lombard-5’11 F ( Texas Elite Stars) Hightower HS- recently committed to LSU, one of the most athletic players in the state who moonlights as a track star, Lombard can dominate a game on either end and watching her elevate over players for years has been exciting as she can ignite the break with a block and an outlet or just keep it herself going coast to coast for easy baskets
Myra Bell- 5’7 G (BIAH Black) Taft HS (San Antonio) athletic and energetic are always pluses as she keeps coming at you, whether it’s constantly attacking the basket or playing defense baseline to baseline, you need to be ready because she will be. Her pull-up in transition is definitely hard to handle as she gets it off quickly and accurately but her ability to create her shot combined with that first step….
Makalah Robinson-5’6 G (Urban Heroes Ross) Cedar Hill HS- her athleticism stood out in the early stages especially when she had the ball in her hands because even then, she was under control. As the years went by, her attacking the rim, taking the lick and all of that which goes with t have just gotten better as well as her jumper and ability to see the floor
2021
Raven Adams-5’6 PG ( Texas Elite Stars Burroughs) Ridgepoint HS- one of the top PG’s in the state, her game has continued to flourish since I tagged her with #D1Lock in the 5th grade. She makes pinpoint passes, she understands how to control the tempo and more importantly she sets teammates up for gimmes. Another plus is she can take over, mid to long range has always been there but she attacks even stronger now
2022
Kolby Davis-5’8 G (HTX 2022) Kinkaid HS- strong and powerful frame, she can attack the basket and finish easily after contact but her mid-range has taken a jump ad that’s huge because that will keep defenders on their toes. She rebounds well on both ends and can play defense not only on the inside against taller players but step out on the perimeter as well
