In my previous articles I have tried to highlight players by different categories to give you a feel for the skills at the event. Here I am writing a story entitled “Best Performers I Hadn’t Seen Before” so I can discuss some players that I had not seen live and what impressed me about each of them.
- Lindsey Rogers Lindsey Rogers 5'10" | PF Benet Academy | 2020 State IL is a 6’0 2020 wing from Benet Academy. Lindsey is a very versatile player. She can play the wing or a face up 4 and hold her own. She has a nice left handed stroke. Lindsey has range out to the 3-point line on her shot. She is a high effort player that will get offensive boards and stick backs for her team. Lindsey is a verbal commit to UIC.
- Alyssa Orozco is a 5’8 2022 guard from Schaumburg. Alyssa is a very solid player. She made shots at all 3 levels. Alyssa shoots the ball with good form and consistency. She was excellent in the mid range and made nice passes throughout the game.
- Sarah Crossett is a 5’11 2022 wing from Naperville North. Sarah finishes well in the lane with a variety of moves. She gets in the lane consistently and causes problems for the defense. She has good range out to the 3 point line on her shot. What struck me the most about Sarah was her effort and motor. She goes hard all the time and makes the hustle plays that make coaches happy.
- Audrey Hinrichs Audrey Hinrichs 6'1" | PF Fenwick | 2022 State IL is a 6’1 2022 post from Fenwick. Audrey is solid in the post and finishes well in traffic. She was able to use a variety of moves to score on the inside. Her footwork is excellent and she gets to the hole consistently off drives from the high post area. She has range out to the 3-point line and can space the floor. Audrey has a high upside.
- Grace LaBarge Grace LaBarge 6'2" | SF Fremd | 2021 State IL is a 6’2 2021 post from Fremd. Grace is a long left handed face up 4 that can score. Grace does a good job of beating defenders off the dribble and finishing in the lane. She has an excellent mid range shot that she uses effectively. Grace moves well out on the perimeter and passes the ball well. With her height and long arms Grace is able to cause problems on the defensive end of the floor.
- Bella Dudley Bella Dudley 5'8" | CG Tri-County | 2022 State IL is a 5’8 2022 wing from Tri County. Bella was under the radar coming in for many of the people in attendance. That changed by the time she went home. Bella was able to score from all over the floor. She is strong and will hurt most guards in the post but is also really good at getting her shots on the perimeter. Bella is an all around player that can also pass and handle it a little. Bella should turn more heads in her sophomore campaign.
- Lauren Huber Lauren Huber 5'10" | SG Libertyville | 2021 State IL is a 5’11 2021 guard from Libertyville. Lauren is a valuable player because of her unusual versatility. She can guard, she can rebound and she can score. She is quick and strong which allows her to be so good as a defender. Lauren passes the ball well too and is very unselfish. She is that glue player that every coach loves to have. Lauren is capable of doing whatever is needed to win games.
There was talent on every court all day long. With over 160 players there were many that caught my eye, but these girls kept my attention and showed something special. All of them are excellent college prospects that I look forward to following over the next few years.
