Based on their teams’ success you can gain some knowledge about these players, for instance. The Belton Lady Pirates have a solid player in 5’3 Point Guard Kennedy Moss. The returning junior two-time all-conference performer is looking to improve her game and help her team compete for a state championship. During the off-season, Kennedy ran with the Next Level Eclipse AAU program. Giving her more opportunities to improve her game.
“Having Kennedy back as our point guard will definitely help our team, above all, she gets our team into our sets every possession,” says Coach Batchelder. “She is an excellent shooter, plays the game with physicality you do not see at the point guard position, and has great court vision.” All of these are great qualities to have in your point guard.
What are your personal expectations for this season?
Photo credit coach BatchelderWe will have a lot of new players on the team this year. The coach will need me to be among the team leaders for the new players. I want to continue to improve my on-court leadership. Knowing all of our plays at every position. This will most definitely help with my individual development. In addition, I want to be better at running our practices and upholding the standards Coach Batchelder sets.
What are some of your strengths as a basketball player
Being able to create my own shot when I need to. As the point guard I have to pick my spots but always to ready to create. Especially when the play breaks down. Working on my ball-handling throughout the summer has given me more confidence. Catch and shoot is where I am best. There is still room for improvement as we get ready for the season.
The point guard position is the most important position on the floor. Being able to be that extension of your coach is a skill in itself. Once the 2019-2020 season gets underway, a sign of a good team will be its point guard play. Most teams that struggle do not have good enough point guard play. However, for the Lady Pirates, they have a good one in Kennedy Moss
