Now that Rock Island’s Brea Beal (3x Winner) has graduated and begun her career at the University of South Carolina, the state will crown a new player next March. To come up with this list of players, I took those that received votes in last years voting and split them into two groups based on the amount of votes each of them received in last year’s voting and have dubbed them ‘The Favorites’ and ‘The Underdogs’. Here are The Favorites:
Angela Dugalic (50 votes last season) – The 6’4” Senior at Maine West averaged 13.2 PPG and 8.7 RPG last season, helping lead the Lady Warriors to an undefeated season and State Championship. With fellow All-Stater Rachel Kent graduated, look for Dugalic’s scoring totals to rise during her Senior campaign.
Darrione Rogers (21 votes last season) – A 5’11” Shooting Guard, Rogers is perhaps the best scorer in this 2020 Class. She has “in the gym range” and strength that makes her tough to stop in the lane. The Lake Park Senior and DePaul commit is among the toughest matchups in Illinois.
Halle Douglass (11 votes last season) – Playing the majority of her minutes at the Point Guard spot for Lake Forest, Douglass, a Senior, is a matchup nightmare every time she steps on the floor. The 6’2” Wisconsin commit has great athleticism and is possibly the best two-way player in the state.
Fantasia Baines (6 votes last season) – A 6’1” Shooting Guard from Thornwood, Baines is one of the strongest players in the area. The Illinois State commit is a rebounding machine on both ends and can defend multiple positions with her strength and quickness.
Drake commit Ambranette Storr looks to cap off her High School career with yet another stellar season!Greta Kampschroeder (6 votes last season) – The lone Junior on this list, it isn’t a surprise to anyone that Kampschroeder is included with these talented Seniors. The six-footer from Naperville North has a polished offensive game that allows her to dominate in a variety of ways.
Ambranette Storr (6 votes last season) – The Senior from Kankakee averaged nearly 25 PPG, 8 RPG, and 3.5 SPG on her way to an All-State recognition last season. The 5’9” Drake commit looks to duplicate those numbers this season and help get Kankakee to Redbird Arena next March.
Capria Brown (5 votes last season) – A 5’11” Senior from Danville (Schlarman), Brown looks to aid the Hilltoppers to yet another State Championship. She averaged 19.1 PPG last season and that number could easily rise as her McDonalds All-American teammate Anaya Peoples graduated and is in her Freshman season at Notre Dame.
