Leesville Road made a move in the 3rd quarter
The Lady Pride used the third quarter to make a run and create some distance between themselves and the Lady Jaguars, outscoring them 17-7 to take a 41-32 lead entering the fourth quarter. Sophomore guard Kandace Daniels scored six of her 14 points in the quarter as well.
2021 guard Nia Young is quite the prospect
Nia Young was the biggest standout in the game and finished with 18 points. Young has the athleticism, awareness and confidence to develop over the rest of the season and summer into something special. She scored on all three levels and used her 5-foot-11 frame well to create off the dribble and get to the rim. Iona was in attendance to see her play.
Lucy Leen shows why she’s headed to Rollins College
Lucy Leen is a senior prospect that signed to play next season at Rollins College. She showed why she’s a college player at the next level, finishing with 10 points and showing good command at the point guard position. She’s a 5-foot-10 guard that will be fun to watch at the next level.
Keep an eye on Athens Drive’s Hanna Malik
Hanna Malik is a 5-foot-7 point guard that plays with poise on both ends of the floor. She posted 19 points and four made 3-pointers despite the result. Malik did a little bit of everything to try and power her squad to a victory also finishing with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. She’s headed to Washington & Lee University after her senior season.
Hannah Poe has potential for the future
Hannah Poe showed confidence on the floor in the Athens Drive backcourt. Poe finished with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals for the Lady Jaguars. She shot 4-of-6 from inside the arc while also going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line as well. She’s a 5-foot-10 shooter with potential that can create her own shot off the catch and in space..
