McClure was unconscious to open the event up against North Shore dropping 5 in the first half and 7 for the game and Holmes closed out pool play against Cy Ranch with I believe 6 in the first half and 8 or 9 in what turned out to be one of the best games I’ve seen, How about Cheyenne Bonilla in the Katy Classic, 5 against Cedar Ridge in a tough loss to open that event up only to help lead her team to the consolation championship with 6 threes and 38 points so that sort of told me what was coming and if it didn’t, Rebekah Hailey Rebekah Hailey 5'6" | CG College Station | 2020 State TX ’s six threes against Rudder a couple of games before the playoffs for College Station had me amped. Ironically, she just helped them beat Rudder again with her long ball and they open the Regional semifinals tonight against Shadow Creek in 5A, I’ll catch tomorrows championship between that winner and the Cedar Park vs Hightower winner but here are some of the big game performances
Megan Brothers-G (LaGrange) only foul trouble stopped her from opening up the playoffs with 40, she finished in the high twenties but she was simply shooting the lights out from every angle and the sets they ran for her to get open or her creating her own shot showed me she was legit. The junior is one of those hidden gems we have in Texas, she told me she played for a small independent and that proves talent is everywhere
Amanda Turpin Amanda Turpin 5'5" | CG CyFair | 2020 State TX -G (Cy Fair) she’s made 8 in front of me so many times, dropped a three from halfcourt a couple of times to tie the game yet in the playoffs, she also showed she is clutch no matter what the setting as her three at the buzzer sent their opening round game against Westside into OT before they won and another three at the buzzer against Tompkins won their second-round match-up or maybe it was vice versa, no matter, the senior has always been ice under pressure
Aleighyah Fontenot-G (Ridgepoint) she’s coming off of a big game that knocked Turpin’s Cy Fair squad from yet another Regional semifinal with 9 from bta. Cy Fair has been to more regionals than any team from the area so it seems only fitting that Fotenot’s performance helped Ridgepoint make it to it’s first. They open up the Merrell Center against Clear Springs and their dazzling shoot em up sophomore tandem of Kylie Minter Kylie Minter 5'5" | SG Clear Springs | 2022 State TX and Kenna Gibson Kenna Gibson 5'5" | CG Clear Springs | 2022 State TX , both of whom can drop it from anywhere
Gracelynn Alvarez Gracelynn Alvarez 5'9" | SG Heights | 2021 State TX -G (Heights) one of the best long ball shooters in the state, Alvarez can get going against anyone at the blink of an eye and helping lead her team to their first-ever third round of the playoffs by dropping 5 in the first half against Bush and scoring 20 in that opening half and adding a couple of more in the second. their season came to an end against Cypress Creek, she still managed to drop 5 or 6 in that one but again, once she gets going …….
Kyndall Hunter Kyndall Hunter 5'8" | SG Cypress Creek | 2021 State #23 Nation TX -G (Cy Creek) the OMG moments I’ve seen from her just keep getting better and she was in a zone against Heights dropping NBA range three pointers with ease that barely touched the nets. The thing about her is that she’s strong, she can overpower guards to go by them so she’s hard to contain as she mixes it up nicely. They’re in the semifinals tonight against Summer Creek, the defending R-3 champ, something the junior guard wants her team to be after helping lead them to state as a freshman so 6 or 7 threes, over 30 points helps set the stage for this evening
