She can score almost every way imaginable right now, she plays the same no matter what and she is nowhere near the finished product” and guess what, the product still isn’t finished which is becoming scarier after her performance last night in which she helped her College Station team make return trip to the 5A Regional semifinals
Deondra Young (Sam Houston) helped get Rudder off to early 8-0 run to start the game, Rudder was also playing without Tianna Mathis at full strength, she only played a few minutes because of a minor injury and it was going to be tough to get this done without her but they put up a gallant fight. You can always expect heat from that sophomore cousin backcourt of Bryanna Turner and Rakia Lee because they definitely create havoc and the improvement I’ve seen from Keaundra Kelly as well as inspiring play from Asani McGee however without Mathis, I just didn’t see this happening. Young played one of her best high school games scoring 26 points and probably had a double-double, Kelly finished with 10, McGee 9 and Lee added 8.
Collins’ nickname is “Puff” and she definitely is TOUGH and doing so when it counts spoke volumes for the talented sophomore she dropped 22 points for the Lady Cougars. I’ve been knowing many of these young ladies for years in the Bryan-College Station, many were not even in elementary school when I would catch them at the Texas A&M games when my daughter was playing but after watching them closely progress over the years has definitely been a pleasure. Mia Rivers had one of her best offensive games in the playoffs scoring 17 points while Rebekah Hailey was on as well dropping 15 points on a variety of ways in helping College Station to back 30 win seasons. They open Friday in Houston at the Campbell Center against Shadow Creek at 6 pm
