Top Performers
Nyla McGill #22 | Providence | Junior PG
McGill was an obvious choice for the Most Valuable Player selection. She scored 10 points along with 7 assists and 15 rebounds. That’s right, 15 rebounds as a point guard. She moved the ball well and knew how to spread the floor. Her vision of the floor is well developed, and her ability to push the ball up the court will transfer well to the next level. Her aggressive defense made a statement throughout the game including a block in the last 3 minutes stifling Ardrey Kell’s ability to make a run.
Eva Butler #15 | Providence | Sophomore SG
Teams who play Butler over the next several years are going to have trouble. This speedy guard was a terror on defense accounting for 4 steals, but it seemed like a lot more. She also found herself crashing the boards to get 4 big rebounds late in the game when Providence needed to stop Ardrey Kell from bouncing back. Her ability to pass and make plays was on display with her 5 assists.
Amari Davis #24 | Providence | Senior F
Davis had intimidating post moves by the rim that were difficult to defend. Contributing 12 points to the win for Providence, Davis was definitely a main focus for Ardrey Kell to defend, but they had trouble doing so. Davis established her position inside and showed her senior level experience.
Lucy Vanderbeck #24 | Ardrey Kell | Junior G
Vanderbeck was the leading scorer for Ardrey Kell and she hardly missed all game. While scoring 15 points, her shooting ability was on full display. She made from all over the court including some clutch 3-pointers giving Ardrey Kell a chance to make a comeback. She was also a tenacious defender causing turnovers and making steals on the other end of the court.
Evan Miller #23 | Ardrey Kell | Senior G
Miller may be listed as a guard, but she has the skill set that could let her play all positions on the court. She led Ardrey Kell with bringing the ball down the court, but she was able to make some moves inside that showed she is not limited to the guard position. She was able to spread the floor and constantly keep the ball moving making it difficult for defenders to regain possession. She finished with 4 points, 6 rebounds, and a pair of steals.
Grace Belcher #14 | Ardrey Kell | Junior G
Belcher was a standout player coming off the bench for Ardrey Kell. Her immediate impact with grabbing rebounds and steals kept Ardrey Kell in the game. She even contributed several key assists setting up her players to score at an important time for her team.
