GAME 1: CRANDON VS AQUINAS
Aquinas defeated Crandon 73-42.
AQUINAS:
Taylor Theusch | 5’7 SG | Senior
The senior shot lights out this game. Beating a three-point game record for the WIAA basketball tournament was Theuschwith 7 made three pointers. She’s incredibly consistent and went 7-12 on the night. She finished with 23 points in the victory. She can square up off a pass or create a shot for herself and knock it down. She is committed to Minnesota State Mankato.
Kayla Bahr | 5’8 G | Senior
A key role player all season long for Aquinas. She’s incredibly poised and keeps her composure in high- pressure situations. She has also developed her three-point shot this season and has more confidence taking them. Bahr has stepped up to be a defensive specialist for her team this season. At her size, she’s relentless on the glass and a fun guard to watch. In the win over Crandon, she finished with 8 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Lexi Donarski Lexi Donarski 5'10" | CG Aquianas High School | 2020 State WI | 5’10 G | Senior
One of the state’s top guards led Aquinas in all scores tonight. The Iowa- State commit finished with 23 points and saw 35 minutes of play. She’s incredibly versatile offensively and has so many different ways to attack the basket. She’s explosive driving to the basket and finishes with poise at the rim. A perimeter shooter as well, Donarski hit two three point shots in the win. Helping Bahr defensively, Donarski causes a lot of commotion. She finished with 5 rebounds and 7 steals. Also an effective floor general who finds her teammates well, she finished with game high 7 steals.
Jacy Weisbrod | 5’10 SG | Sophomore
Weisbrod hit some big buckets this game for Aquinas. She finds her teammates well and set’s really effective screens offensively. She finished with 3 assists for Aquinas. She has a good eye for her shot and knows when to attack the rim. Weisbord added 15 points to the victory.
CRANDON:
Tabitha Renkas | 5’5 G | Senior
Leading Crandon this season with 13.7 points per game was the lighting quick Renkas. She put her team on her back for Crandon this game. Doing all the little things right, Renkas does a good job at creating space for herself offensively. She finished with 12 points, 5 assists and 2 steals for her team.
GAME 2:
MISHICOT VS MELROSE MINDORO
Melrose- Mindoro defeated Mishicot 57 to 55.
Calette Lockington Calette Lockington 5'8" | PG Melrose- Mindoro | 2020 State WI | 5’9 PG | Senior
The senior had a huge game in the victory over Mishicot. She played the entire game and didn’t look the least bit tired. She plays pressure defense and has great footwork. An offensive specialist as well, she hit three clutch three-point shots down the stretch. Lockington finished with a team-high 22 points in the win. She is committed to Viterbo.
Mesa Byom Mesa Byom 6'2" | PF Melrose- Mindoro | 2020 State WI | 6’3 F | Senior
The forward has been essential all season long. She runs the floor well in transition and sees a lot of buckets off put back rebounds. She’s long which helps her block shots and defend. A quick, athletic forward with guard like abilities. Byom finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Byom is committed to South Dakota State.
Emily Herzberg Emily Herzberg 6'0" | PF Melrose- Mindoro | 2020 State WI | 6’0 F | Senior
Herzberg has helped lead her team in rebounding and scoring this year. She’s developed as an outside shooting threat this season. In the state tournament win, she made three, three point shots. Herzberg finished the game with 12 points. She is also committed to South Dakota State University.
MISHICOT
Kylie Schmidt Kylie Schmidt 6'0" | SF Mishicot | 2021 State WI | 6’0 SF | Junior
The Purdue Northwest commit entered the match-up averaging 18.8 points, 3.4 assists and 10.5 rebounds per game. A strong presence in the paint, Schmidt demands the ball offensively. She’s strong and athletic. She has developed her mid range and ball handling this season- often leading the offense for Mishicot. She finished with a game-high 24 points.
