The buzz heard around the state this season was standout freshman guard, Kamora Arnold. She stepped onto the court with Germantown and was nothing short of amazing. She blended right in with a talented and experienced team and put up huge numbers.
A flashy guard who can create a shot for herself. Arnold understands the game well and it translates to how easily she finds her shooting spots. She’s quick and her footwork when attacking the basket is exceptional. She has the ability to push the pace on the break and find her teammates in the lane. This season, when Germantown needed a bucket, it was Arnold who they looked for. She’s consistent and composed, unheard of for someone her age, she handles pressure better than anyone I’ve seen this season.
The freshman is a crafty finisher and a pure scorer who has put up huge numbers this season- leading her team to a Sectional Final appearance. Kamorea Arnold averaged 17 points per game this season. In a team win over a state-bound Pewaukee team, she scored 23 points and shot 60% from the floor. She handled the pressure well this game and wasn’t affected by the high pressure defense the opposing team brought. Her ability to create space and shoot the ball with a defender in her face makes her even more versatile offensively. In another victory over West Allis Hale, Arnold dropped a season-high 24 points. As the season progressed, Arnold worked with her other talented guards and post players very well. She is also a workhorse on defense. At 5’8, Arnold was averaging 8 rebounds per game for her team. She’s super efficient on the offensive glass and a mega-hustler for loose balls off the rim.
She became a facilitator and distributed the ball effectively. By the end of the season, Arnold was averaging 4.9 assists per game. In a win over state-bound DSHA team, she dished out 10 assists to her teammates. She also passed out 10 assists in a win over Brookfield Central. She was a clear consistent factor in her team’s success this year, and a player that many other teams have told me they look out for. Syracuse recruit Khamya McNeal Khamya McNeal 5'7" | CG Milwaukee King | 2020 State WI referenced Arnold as the best player she’s faced this season.
Kamorea Arnold was one of two freshmen to be in the All- State conversation this season, earning Honorable Mention. Arnold is just scratching the surface of her high school basketball career. She’ll be putting in work all summer playing with Midwest Elite EYBL. As she continues to develop, it is certain that she’ll continue to be the top player in her class.
