- Is Samyha Suffren Samyha Suffren 5'8" | PG Cannon | 2023 State NC turning into the #1 Prospect in the NC 2023 Class?
From the beginning of the game I noticed that Northwest Guilford had no answer for Samyha Suffren Samyha Suffren 5'8" | PG Cannon | 2023 State NC , but then again who does? This young lady has developed into a great decision maker that can take over the scoring load for her team at any time. I have been able to watch her a few times throughout her freshman year and she has continued to get better, on this night she finished with 22 Pts but was as effective on the defensive side of the ball, causing multiple turnovers that turned into points for Mallard Creek. The high level of athleticism makes Samyha a matchup problem, she is able to distribute the ball to her teammates because of the attention she draws on the court and is becoming an Elite level perimeter defender. This summer will help to introduce her game to a lot more college coaches and she will be 1 of the Top recruits in the NC 2023 Class…. #1 on that list?? We will see…
- Reagan Kargo went out on top… Even in a Loss….
Reagan finished off her final High School game by leading her team in scoring with 19 Pts (3 – 3Ptrs) which she has done many times throughout her senior year, but most importantly she showed her younger teammates how to fight all the way to the finish. This group of Seniors at Northwest Guilford were able to be a part of 2 State Championship teams and multiple Conference Championships, but this year is different after losing King & Keitley to Virginia Tech, someone had to step up and be the leader… In steps Kargo!! You can tell that she dedicated herself to the gym over the summer knowing that it was her time to be the one. Throughout her career she has been known as a shooter especially from long distance but she has added so much to her game this year, more slashing to the rim, better defensive movement and all I have to say it Hats off to you Reagan Kargo as she heads to Limestone College in the Fall.
- I am really impressed with the continued development of 6’1” – Junior – Jayden Murray.
One of the toughest things to find in Girls Basketball is a back to the basket player that can score the basketball consistently and throughout this game Jayden Murray did that for Northwest Guilford, she finished with 12 points & multiple rebounds while battling players at her size or bigger. The best part about her game is that she was patient and aggressive when she saw her opening to get to the basket, she did not put herself in a position to get an offensive foul throughout the game. I believe that with her continued offensive play to go along with a very consistent and smart defensive resume that this summer will be big in her recruitment process. Jaden finished off her Junior year very nicely and with 2020 – 6’5” – Megan Harkey – Graduating This spring, she will be able to handle the Post position and get a lot more touches her Senior year, I can see her putting up some big numbers in the stat sheet.
- Senior Leadership by Mallard Creek from Brown, Walker & Doctor have them in a Good Place!!
Over the last Decade Mallard Creek – Head Coach: Clarence Johnson – Has built a very strong program that has not only Won a lot of games but also put dozens of players on college rosters. The 2020 Group of Seniors are led by 3 very good players but also strong leaders by example, Nevaeh Brown Nevaeh Brown 5'8" | CG Mallard Creek | 2020 State NC who is a Wake Forest Signee is one of the best 1 on 1 players in the Charlotte area, who can defend with the best of them on the perimeter, she leads by example with her consistent hard nosed play on the court. Lauren Walker Lauren Walker 5'8" | CG Mallard Creek | 2020 State NC who has verbally committed to play at Barton college is a true example of perseverance after coming back from an ACL tear and returning to top form her senior year to help secure the conference Championship and trip to the State Final 4, Lauren has made some huge shots throughout this season, she is more explosive and determined since her injury. Hali Doctor is an example of someone putting her personal tragedy to the side once she is on the court, her focus and determination to be the best she can be is inspiring to everyone she comes in contact with – Hali will be playing at Columbia College next fall.
