I thought this would be the last year of the conference, but due to the changes in football scheduling/playoff system, the conference will continue for now. With that said, here is my review and the list of girls voted All Conference.
Father McGivney had an excellent year and ended up making a special run all the way to the Super Sectionals. The Lady Griffins came into the season as one of the favorites with Alton Marquette and made a run through the conference. You will notice there is some inconsistency with the games played. Madison did not finish their season and the Bunker Hill vs Alton Marquette game was cancelled and not made up before Regionals started. Here are the final standings:
- Father McGivney — 6-0
- Alton Marquette — 4-1
- Wood River– 5-2
- Nokomis — 3-3
- Metro East Lutheran –1-5
- Madison — 0-4
- Bunker Hill — 0-4
The following players were voted to the All Conference team:
- Madison Webb is a 5’ 2020 Forward from Father McGivney. Madison was the unquestioned go to player down the stretch for Coach Oller. She delivered big games in big game situations. Madison can score inside and out. She does a good job of getting off shots in the post against taller defenders.
- Adrenna Snipes Adrenna Snipes 5'5" | CG Alton Marquette | 2022 State IL is a 5’5 2022 Point Guard from Alton Marquette. Adrenna is a very quick ball handler that can score through contact in the lane. She excels in the full court game by getting steals in the press and turning those into quick points. Adrenna led her team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals.
- Anna McKee is a 5’8 2021 Wing from Father McGivney. Anna is a tough defender at the top of the press/zone defense. She uses her long arms and anticipation to get steals/tips that lead to easy baskets. She scored 12.2 points per game this year and surpassed 1,000 points for her career.
- Abby Williams Abby Williams 5'10" | SF Alton Marquette | 2022 State IL is a 5’9 2022 Wing from Alton Marquette. Abby really made big strides this season offensively. She averaged 10.5 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds per game. She is an excellent defender that had her season cut short in January for ACL surgery.
- Taylor Parmentier is a 5’9 2020 Forward from EAWR. Taylor had a good season and career as a tough minded defender and rebounder for the Lady Oilers. She contributed to the growth of the program with her leadership and hard nosed play.
- Macee Eisenbarth is a 5’8 2020 Forward from Nokomis. Macee led the team in scoring by using her ability to find space inside the lane despite being undersized. She plays the game with energy and toughness that was a great example for their young team.
- Aubrey Robinson is a 5’11 2020 Forward from EAWR. Aubrey did a very good job of using her length to disrupt the flow on defense. She had good range on offense where she could score inside and out.
- Destiny Williams is a 5’4 2020 Point Guard from Metro East Lutheran. Destiny is very fast with the ball and is often able to get into the lane before the defense can set up. She passes well and does a good job pressuring the ball on defense.
- Macy Hoppes(tie) is a 5’4 2020 Point Guard from Father McGivney. Macy is a spark plug that brought excellent energy to the team. Her ability to handle pressure and limit turnovers was a big key to the success of the team. She did a good job of stuffing the stat sheet by getting 4-5 points and rebounds and 2-3 assists and steals every game.
- Charlize Luehmann(tie) is a 5’9 2022 Forward from Father McGivney. Charlize had a great start to the season after playing a lot as a freshman. She is tough inside and does a good job of hitting shots out to 15 feet. She will definitely fill a bigger role next year.
It was an exciting year with Father McGivney making the playoff run and Alton Marquette going 24-7. The two teams played twice and both games went to Overtime. Father McGivney won the game that counts for the conference standings and takes the conference crown. I get the feeling these two are not done with playing close games against each other.
