Sleepers of the 2023 Class

The 2023 class has a lot of potential in its talent, in players that have height, skill, and upside. [player_tooltip player_id="158553" first="Allie" last="Mead"] is a promising young talent for Canby, Abigail Brown is a tall post who looks to continue to work on her game for a Philomath team retains most of their young talent, whereas [player_tooltip player_id="158552" first="Hailey" last="Shimojima"] is a nice point guard with a great feel. [player_tooltip player_id="158561" first="Amy" last="Dickover"] of Sutherlin was asked to do quite a bit this season, a tall task for a freshman, but enjoyed a season in which she had several double doubles as Sutherlin made it to the 3A State Championship game. [player_tooltip player_id="158553" first="Allie" last="Mead"] (Canby HS) - Guard with upside as she was depended on by Canby to come in and fit in with the flow of the game despite the surmounting circumstances. Plays at a nice pace, has quick reactions to plays and has a good feel for the game. Will be looked upon next season to further her progression as she has a lot of promise. Abigail Brown 2023 6’2" C (Philomath HS) - Tall, lanky post for Philomath, who were the 4A Favorites and only lost one game in a tune-up at the end of the season to West Albany. Although she didn’t start, Abigail is a 6’2” freshman, with room to grow in all meanings of the word. Will be relied to rebound, block shots, and get easy baskets as she gets more composure and playing time. [player_tooltip player_id="158552" first="Hailey" last="Shimojima"] 2023 5’5" PG (Tigard HS) - Quick, defensive minded, team oriented guard for Tigard that handled point guard duties all year long for Tigard. Offensively still developing, but can take you off the dribble into the paint for either a score or a dish to a teammate. Can initiate the offense by getting into the passing lanes for a steal, was amongst the Portland Holiday Classic’s assist leader with 4 assists per game. [player_tooltip player_id="158561" first="Amy" last="Dickover"] 2023 6’1" C (Sutherlin HS) - Tall, extremely long center for Sutherlin that got immediate impact minutes and made the most of them. Still developing into her body, but she gets rebound at a tremendous rate and can get easy put backs for points. In a game versus Clatskanie at the MLK Yoda Showcase, Amy grabbed an astonishing 20 rebounds in a loss to a team that they battled throughout the season.
