I read about seniors Rebekah Hailey Rebekah Hailey 5'6" | CG College Station | 2020 State TX (College Station) going completely off as well as Amanda Turpin Amanda Turpin 5'5" | CG CyFair | 2020 State TX (Cy Fair) hitting them from everywhere including those that sent games into overtime as well as buzzer-beaters. What about junior Kaley Perkins Kaley Perkins 6'0" | SG Langham Creek | 2021 State TX (Langham Creek) being unconscious from afar but the thing about these three young ladies is that I’ve been watching them do this before they entered high school and what a way to start a story
2021
Kyndall Hunter Kyndall Hunter 5'8" | SG Cypress Creek | 2021 State #23 Nation TX (Cy Creek) to say she was on a mission that wasn’t impossible is an understatement as I’ve watched her simply take it to another level. She dropped them from everywhere, including NBA range and her stop and pop dropping a three was priceless to see as she helped lead her team to the state tournament but I saw it coming over 6 years ago
Gracelynn Alvarez Gracelynn Alvarez 5'9" | SG Heights | 2021 State TX (Heights) she’s been shooting the 3 ball since the 6th grade when she made her first Tip Sheet and even back then, I knew what I was looking at. She needs to be guarded tightly as soon as she gets the ball because if she gets across midcourt, you never know and if she’s feeling it, she will let it flow. I caught them twice, the first time she had 5 or 6 at the half, I had seen enough
Arleighya Fontenot (Ridgepoint) my oh my, I read about her dropping 9 in one game and the 10th rimmed out during the playoffs but I personally witnessed her go completely off in another playoff game with 8. That’s no surprise, she’s been doing it her whole high school career, dropped 8 and finished with 40 at Sandra Meadows as a freshman
Megan Brothers (LaGrange) so many times you see players that can spot up and shoot or shoot off the screen or double screen in high school and that amps up a lot of folks. I like versatility for a number of reasons so watching her “catch and shoot” with accuracy was a pleasure. I’ve mentioned over and over that talent is everywhere and she impressed me enough to be added to the 2021 Top 100
Na’Layjah Johnson Na’Layjah Johnson 5'6" | SG College Station | 2021 State TX (College Station) I started with a player that helped lead her team to state and that’s how I’m finishing because what she did during the playoffs was nothing short of sensational. I’ve watched her make big shots in club ball as well as high school but hitting the 3 to force to game into overtime was huge because this was a game that decided who went to state. She finished with 20, multiple 3 pointers but her desire to not only take the pressure shot but come through adds her to the Top 100
