Some in two years will gain athleticism and become guards as they fill out and hone their skills. Some will get stronger and continue to grow and become forwards. Essentially every player on this list has the ability to play multiple spots on the floor and I consider most of them “wings”. In fact many of these players are more perimeter players than anything. Sahara Williams Sahara Williams 5'11" | SF Waterloo West | 2023 State IA claims the top spot for the small forwards with her versatility and ability to score on the inside. Williams is one of the most athletic players in the 2023 class, regardless of position.
Following her is Brooklin Dailey Brooklin Dailey 5'8" | SF Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA , Carlee Rochford Carlee Rochford 5'10" | PG New Hampton | 2023 State IA , Lydia Olejniczak Lydia Olejniczak 5'8" | SF Perry | 2023 State IA , and Ellary Knock Ellary Knock 6'0" | SF Dike-New Hartford | 2023 State IA to round out the Top 5. These four players had huge impacts on their respective high school teams this past year. After you get past the top five there are still a multitude of players who were key players on their high school roster. Grace Hennessy Grace Hennessy 5'10" | PF Denver | 2023 State IA , Maddie Brown Maddie Brown 5'7" | SF Valley | 2023 State IA , Finley Fitzgerald Finley Fitzgerald 5'7" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2023 State IA , and Alivia Ruble Alivia Ruble 5'8" | SF Southeast Warren | 2022 IA to just name a few. Even though there are 22 players ranked at the small forward position, this might be the deepest in terms of college potential.
Be on the lookout for further analysis of the small forwards later this week.
