Below is a list of standout guards in the Green Bay area. Each one of these players showed tremendous skill and the high ceilings that they have. These guards are players that have shown glimpses of greatness and will be prospects to watch for improvement and confidence going into summer and next season.
Sarah Hardwick | 5’10 G | Notre Dame
Hardwick had an impressive season during her sophomore year and really helped impact her team in multiple ways. As a freshman, Hardwick averaged nearly 5 points per game. She helped defensively by giving other guards a break guarding the opposing team’s top player. However, this season she improved each skill. She became quicker on both ends of the floor and was the go-to guard for defending a top scorer. Her footwork on defense helped her to grab multiple steals per game. Offensively, Hardwick averaged 7.7 points per game for Notre Dame. In a win over Green Bay Southwest, Hardwick scored 12 points in the win.
Lyric Johnson | 5’9 G | Hortonville
Johnson developed her passing this season and worked really well with the talented post players on the Hortonville team. She plays with a great tempo and doesn’t force shots offensively. She could easily be a post player for her team and is very confident playing on the block. Playing alongside a top senior post player, Johnson may see more action in the paint next season. In a win over Appleton North, Johnson scored a season-high 11 points. If left open, Johnson will attempt the perimeter shot as well. A defensive specialist for Hortonville, Johnson impacts the game with her ability to rebound the basketball.
Grace Kieffer | 5’6 G | Kimberly
Kieffer is another player who competed on a super talented team this season. She will take a lot of experience into her summer and junior season. She has a great mid-range jumper and is a knock down shooter off the pass. With a team full of multiple talented upperclassmen, Kieffer stepped up and played the role she was given. She didn’t force anything and did the little things right for Kimberly. She’s great on defense and has scrappy footwork. In a win over Appleton North, Kieffer scored a season-high 17 points.
Lianna Baxter Lianna Baxter 6'1" | PF Aquinas | 2022 State WI | 5’7 G | Bay Port
A crafty scorer who really impacted her team this season. She plays with a lot of confidence on the floor and isn’t afraid to take control of the game. She pushes the ball in transition and is so quick that she flys past defenders while attacking the rim. She creates her own shot on the perimeter and uses great handles before knocking down the three point basket. She made 32 shots beyond the arc this season. Krueger averaged 12.3 points per game for Bay Port. She put up huge numbers all season and showed she is one of the top players to watch entering summer and her junior season. In a victory over Eau Claire Memorial, Krueger scored a season-high 26 points in the win.
Leah Lemke | 5’7 G | Wrightstown
The Wrightstown guard was a great overall player for her team this season. She understood her role and excelled in so many ways. She put up consistent numbers to help her team win this season. She averaged 4.1 assists per game and did a great job distributing the ball to her high scoring teammates like Ella Diny Ella Diny 5'8" | CG Wrightstown | 2020 State WI . On defense, Lemke uses her quickness to impact the game. She is scrappy on the press and averaged 2.6 steals per game and grabbed 6.4 rebounds per game. Offensively, Lemke knew when to score the basketball. She saw a lot of points off put back baskets and from attacking the lane in transition. The sophomore averaged 8.1 points per game for Wrightstown. In a win against Luxemburg- Casco, Lemke scored a season-high 18 points in the win.
