Below is a list of 5 players in the Milwaukee area that are top of the Junior class. Each of these players have promising high school careers and have already shown so much success thus far.
Morgann Gardner Morgann Gardner 6'1" | PF Racine Lutheran | 2021 State WI | 6’1 PF | Racine Lutheran | Midwest Elite EYBL
Gardner is an exciting player who had an incredibly junior season at Racine Lutheran. Her recruiting stock has risen tremendously and Garnder is receiving some major college interest. The standout power forward can score the basketball so many ways. She uses a mid range jumper and a turn around from the block that are nearly impossible to guard. She can handle the ball and balances her body well attacking the rim. She’s a true post player who impacts the game with her ability to hold her own on the block. Garnder is currently ranked 9th in her class by Prep Girls Hoops and I’d expect that number to rise after her performance this summer. The Racine Lutheran standout runs the floor well and scores with authority in transition. This season she finished second in her team in scoring by averaging 16.6 points per game and 7.8 rebounds. The First Team All conference and Honorable Mention All State selection recently received an offer from IUPUI as well as Loyola University Chicago.
Chloe Dallas Chloe Dallas 6'2" | PF Wauwatosa East | 2021 State WI | 6’2 PF | Wauwatosa East
Dallas is an exciting player to watch with such a high ceiling for success. She’s improved her game each time I’ve watched her and seems to be becoming even more athletic. This season she took on a bigger leadership role for her team and added “floor general” to her threats on the court. She’s patient with the ball- not forcing a shot for herself or a pass to her teammates. She knows how to get herself open and is super confined taking her opponent one on one from the post. She uses her footwork well to create space and her height helps her to get a quick release jumper off. The Wauwatosa East standout averaged 16.6 points per game for her team this season. In a game against Brookfield East, Dallas scored a season-high 28 points. Dallas is a rebounding specialist for her team as well. She has a great eye for boards and the quickness to chase after them. Watch for her to develop her shot blocking ability and be a force in the lane next season.
Phoebe Frentzel Phoebe Frentzel 5'9" | CG Arrowhead | 2021 State WI | 5’9 CG | Arrowhead
Frentzel is currently ranked 17 in her class by Prep Girls Hoops and showed this season that her ceiling is high and her stock is still rising. The Arrowhead guard is super impressive on both ends of the floor. She’s a scrappy offensive threat and is crafty finding different ways to attack the basket. She’s a blow by kind of scorer, oftentimes using a quick first step or hesitation to shake the defender. The Arrowhead standout led her team in scoring this season by averaging 13.7 points per game. She developed her mid range shooting ability and improved her patience before forcing a shot. Frentzel is a workhorse on defense as well. She doesn’t shy away from contact and alters many shots with her strength. In a win over a top Milwaukee King squad this season, Frentzel dropped a season-high 25 points for her team.
Jaelyn Acker Jaelyn Acker 5'7" | CG Germantown | 2021 State WI | 5’6 G | Germantown
Acker is another player that I’ve covered all season long. She’s proven to be one of the more dynamic guards I’ve seen as her impact on the game comes from a different place each night. She’s a triple threat for Germantown. The guard is a facilitator and knows how to get her teammates involved. She plays on a highly talented team that is full of scorers. Acker does a great job keeping the tempo and making sure her teammates get open and good shots. She’s a communicator with the ball and isn’t afraid to navigate for her teammates. She knows when to slow down the offense and when to push the tempo. Her basketball IQ is high. She can score the basketball as well- attacking the basket with a crafty layup or creating her own shot on the perimeter. Acker averaged 12 points per game for Germantown.
Elizabeth Cleary Elizabeth Cleary 5'7" | PG Oconomowoc | 2021 WI | 5’7 PG | Oconomowoc
Clearly really stepped out of her shell late this season and proved how impactful she is for her team. The junior helped to lead her team deep into the playoffs. She worked well alongside her talented teammate Olivia Sobszak. The two became quite the dynamic duo and I watched Clearly become a confident and efficient passer for Oconomowoc. She’s the floor general for her team. She has impressive handles and the ability to create space while remaining patient for the open shot or pass. Clearly can score the ball as well. She averaged 9.4 points per game and was consistent in giving her team buckets each game. On defense, Clearly was the go-to girl to guard the opposing team’s top guard. She has quick footwork and long arms to deflect passes. The point guard plays with a lot of confidence on the court and I’m looking forward to watching her run the squad next season.
