Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Kelsey Fields Kelsey Fields 6'2" | PF Creston | 2021 State IA – Creston
Half of Creston’s losses last year came by single digits as the Panthers finished 14-10 overall and reached a regional championship.
Now, with Kelsey Fields Kelsey Fields 6'2" | PF Creston | 2021 State IA back for her senior season, Creston will look to make a run at the state tournament.
Fields averaged 17.6 points and 12.7 rebounds per game last year, shooting 55 percent from the field. She recorded 422 points and 304 rebounds for the Panthers, sinking over 57 percent of her free throws.
Along with that production, Fields also contributed 53 steals, 37 blocks and 32 assists.
Haley Rasmussen Haley Rasmussen 5'6" | SG Atlantic | 2021 State IA – Atlantic
Leading scorer Haley Rasmussen Haley Rasmussen 5'6" | SG Atlantic | 2021 State IA is back to help Atlantic reach the next level.
Rasmussen averaged over 17 points per game last season, as the Class of 2021 prospect shot 41 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three-point line and 89 percent at the free throw stripe.
Along with scoring 399 points, Rasmussen also had 89 steals, 48 rebounds and 44 assists.
Sam Dunphy Sam Dunphy 5'11" | PF Creston | 2021 State IA – Creston
Creston hit a nice late-season stride and will hope that momentum carries over behind the returning talent back in the fold.
Joining Kelsey Fields Kelsey Fields 6'2" | PF Creston | 2021 State IA is classmate Sam Dunphy Sam Dunphy 5'11" | PF Creston | 2021 State IA , who contributed 267 points on almost 49 percent shooting from the field. She also made 71 percent of her 106 free throw attempts for the Panthers.
Dunphy added in 156 rebounds with 29 steals, 25 assists and 12 blocks.
Tori White – Clarke
Clarke went through a tough season in 2019-20, but returns its scoring, rebounding and assist leaders this winter.
That includes Tori White, who produced a team-high 209 points as a junior.
White averaged 10 points a night, shooting just under 30 percent from the field with a team-high 28 made three-pointers. She also had 118 rebounds, 22 assists, 20 steals and blocked 17 shots.
Addisyn Vorm – Nevada
With most of the key pieces returning this winter, Nevada should have some high hopes for the coming season.
Class of 2021’s Addisyn Vorm is one of those players after producing 173 points with 78 assists, 78 rebounds and 53 steals last year.
Vorm knocked down a team-high 41 three-pointers. Her senior year could be quite memorable with an improvement in her shooting percentages across the board.
