Continue ReadingThe Indiana Elite Havoc 2021 team starts their season this weekend at the USJN event in Indianapolis. This group was set to run on the Adidas circuit but with that on hold they are getting started at other events. This team is comprised of a mixture of eastern Illinois and western Indiana kids and also split among the 2021 and 2022 classes. Here is a preview of the players:
- #2 Mia Harris is a 5’8 2022 Guard from Okaw Valley.Mia is a very athletic all around guard that has taken a big jump forward with her game in the past season. She is a solid player that hopes to continue showing improvement during this AAU season.
- #4 Hanna Dawson is a 5’9 2022 Post from Northview, In.Hanna is a very aggressive defender and rebounder. She doesn’t just box out, she will go get the ball and secure it. Hanna has received the high praise of being compared to Dennis Rodman.
- #10 Katelyn Higginbotham is 5’7 2021 Guard from Lawrenceville. Katelyn brings a well developed skill set. She passes and plays the lead guard role very well. Her scoring game is continuing to develop and will be on display as her high school team is forced to replace a 1,500 point scorer next year.
- #11 Madyson Hill is a 6’0 2021 Wing from Vandalia. Madyson is a very versatile point forward type that continues to work hard and develop her game. She handles the ball well enough to play the point on offense and can distribute the ball. She is tall enough to defend in the post and can score in the lane too.
- #14 Trinity Wade is a 5’8 2022 Guard from Shelbyville. Trinity is a player that can really score as shown by her averaging about 17 points per game on her high school team. In a setting like AAU ball her versatility and ability to finish in the lane against defenders make her stand out.
- #20 Hannah Obrien is a 6’1 2022 Post from Parke Heritage, In. Hannah is a big strong post that has the important traits of a good post player. She is agile, strong and can finish with either hand in the lane.
- #23 Grace Ramsay Grace Ramsay 5'11" | SF Parke Heritage | 2022 State IN is a 5’11 2022 Guard from Parke Heritage. Grace is a very long and versatile guard that can play many roles for a team. She is a natural 2/3 wing player but can handle the ball well enough to play the point guard if needed.
- #30 Madison Lovett Madison Lovett 5'6" | CG North Clay | 2021 State IL is a 5’7 2021 Guard from North Clay. Madison is a scoring threat on the floor and beat you with the deep shot or going to the basket. She is very strong and can often over power other guards. Madison made 56 threes last year and shot over 70% from the free throw line so she can stroke it.
- #31 Anslee Michael is a 5’5 2021 Guard from Terre Haute, In. Anslee is a very quick and athletic guard. She plays mostly in the shooting guard role where she uses her excellent 3-point shot to be a scoring threat.
- #34 Taylor Brown is a 5’10 2021 Post from Flora.Taylor was described to me by a coach as a lunch pale player. She goes to work every day and expects to work. If you want to succeed against Taylor on the floor you better to be ready to go all day and grind.
- #44 Carson Todd is a 5’9 2021 Wing from South Fork.Carson can really shoot the ball from the outside. She can play the wing and do well but with her ability to also score in the post she can really be effective as a stretch 4 when playing against smaller teams.
- #51 Deming Hawkins is a 5’8 2021 Forward from Paris.Deming is the prototypical team/role player that everyone needs. She is excellent at screening, defense and rebounding. She will do all of the little things that her team needs.
This club will be fun to watch this summer. I am not sure there are any high level prospects here, but all are capable of making a difference at the D3 level and should be tracked.
