Continue ReadingI was on my toes early for the She’s Ballin Extravaganza because I knew what was at stake, the talent on multiple courts all tournament long and got praise from a parent whose daughter is one of the top players in the country that told me he liked that I moved around on different courts and not just focus on the can’t miss players and that’s been my mindset since I started doing this over a decade ago and when started using the phrase “talent is everywhere” which was amended to add “if you know what you’re looking at” and no matter what you hear or think, I am second to none at knowing talent, my record on and off the court proves that so here were some of the standouts from SA Finest TayBo 17U Gold
Kelsie Hawkins
Hawkins creates her shot, under pressure and showed what has become a lost art over the years, the ability to shoot the midrange and she did it consistently, that’s even more important. She also mixes it up nicely to keep defenders active by attacking the rim
Layla Conley Layla Conley 5'7" | SG Harlan | 2023 State TXConley sold me years ago when I watched her drop 5 from NBA range, in a row, while being closely defended and my exact words were “she is going to set some long ball records” and after receiving that basketball GRAMMY tom prove me right, she’s catching and shooting quicker and added a step-back 3
Helena Chadwick
Chadwick saw the floor very well and with several targets on her team on the outside as well as inside, she showed she could get the ball to the right person at the right time but even more importantly, she attacks off the dribble strong and can make the pass going full speed
Marley Rokas
Rokas has good form on her shot, showed the midrange as well as putting the ball on the floor from the wing and she understands how to draw contact
Sophia Harber
Harber is strong and she uses her body well on the inside. She has good hands and footwork, finishes with contact and rebounded well on both ends
Gwen Gilmore
Gilmore brought some power to the party and actually shows signs of being able to be a major force because she doesn’t shy away from contact, finishes after the lick but her rebounding and throwing the outlet were on point
Sierra McDermed Sierra McDermed 5'8" | CG SA Johnson | 2022 State TXMcDermed has plenty of plays embedded in my memory and watching her not only score, but the way she scored gave me a totally different look at her game. She’s heady, understands how to set defenders up and she scores multiple ways, in the flow
