This will also give me an opportunity to see some of the players I haven’t seen and always remember I’m not a novice evaluator that gets pumped up on social media hype, I stand by what I have pinned on Twitter, “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against ” and I have no agenda other than keeping it real in an era where it’s not always done. What I do know is this, some of the top players in the stage will be on hand, here are some of those from the host team, San Antonio Finest who are juniors
2021
Paige Bradley Paige Bradley 5'9" | SG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State #95 Nation TX (Bishop Lynch)
Bradley and catch and shoot from anywhere, with accuracy but she also creates her shot and can attack the rim. She also has de-committed from Texas which will place her on plenty of college coaches shortlist as she mixes it up nicely
Bria McClure Bria McClure 5'6" | PG Steele | 2021 State TX (Cibolo Steele)
McClure committed to the College of Charleston and is one of the best point guards I’ve seen since I’ve been doing this because she understands how to run a team, she’s a VOCAL leader and she can take a game over with a blink of an eye but she also makes those around her better
Kierra Sanderlin Kierra Sanderlin 5'8" | PG Judson | 2021 State #89 Nation TX (SA Judson)
Sandelin is an actual BEAST and the overused term doesn’t even say enough about her as she has that “will to win” mindset and when you can singlehandedly place a team on your back and find ways to score and stop your opponents from scoring, that’s special
Trinity Garrett Trinity Garrett 5'8" | CG Smithson Valley | 2021 State TX (Smithson Valley)
Garrett will be heading to South Alabama after her senior season and she will be bringing some instant offense along with her. Her outside game is solid but what’s even better is that she can create her shot and plays within herself
Kayla Presley Kayla Presley 5'7" | CG Lehman | 2021 State TX (Lehman)
Presley showed me a lot over the past couple of years, one, she can run a team to perfection and two, she can score multiple ways including mid to long. She plays smart, sets defenders up nicely and also bring some heat on the defensive end
Asjha Leake Asjha Leake 6'0" | PF Steele | 2021 State TX (Cibolo Steele)
Leake has shown progression each year and she already has a college-ready frame that will translate over nicely. She gets position under the basket, rebounds on both ends and runs the floor but her finishing, especially after contact and her facing the basket to score has shot up
Emri Lovell Emri Lovell 5'5" | PG Harker Heights | 2021 State TX (Harker Heights)
Lovell was one of the stars at the Showcase and understood the “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” perfectly and she also “seized the opportunity” as she excelled on both ends of the court, especially with that “stop and pop” pull-up jumper that’s embedded in my memory
