Sage Kramer Sage Kramer 6'1" | PG Philomath | 2022 State OR has already made strides in breaking State Records as one of her most notable performances came against Sisters in a game where she went 16 of 16 from the field. Teryn Powers is a player who makes her impact felt as a player who helps her team with the small things. Piper Shrabel is a unique player who also plays on the Willamina boy’s football team whereas JaLay Burns JaLay Burns 5'2" | PG Irrigon | 2022 State OR continues to make herself a household name out of a school that a lot aren’t quite familiar with. Here are the Small School Standouts of 2022.
Sage Kramer Sage Kramer 6'1" | PG Philomath | 2022 State OR 2022 SG 6’1” Philomath HS – Sage is one of the more advanced scorers in her class, as she can truly do it at all three levels and makes it look simple. She owns several State records, including holding the distinction of being one of four players in OSAA history to connect on 100% field goals in a game, as she did it in a big fashion going 16 for 16 in a game against Sisters. She also has the 4A State Record for points as a sophomore (44) and most points in a quarter (23). She is consistent from the mid-range level, where she gets to her spots in a hurry. She is also solid around the rim with the ability to finish imaginatively while avoiding contact.
Teryn Powers 2022 5’7” PG Hidden Valley – Teryn is a very active guard for Hidden Valley who averaged 10.3 points and 2.5 steals through March as she made 4A All State Honorable Mention. She is an above average shooter that knows when to let it go and hits it in stride for her team and on defense she is always aware, as she is constantly finding a way to come up with the ball. Good rebounder for her size due to her effort and awareness around the rim, good passing instincts, and can finish around the rim.
Piper Shrabel 2022 5’7” SG Willamina HS – Tough is a word that describes Piper, as she also plays on the football team as a receiver and defensive back as a player with agility and good hands. On the hardwood, she averaged 8.3 points, 1.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.6 steals in a utility role for Willamina as she received 3A All State Honorable Mention last season. She shows a lot of hustle and determination on the court, as defensively she is physical, quick, and has a nose for coming up for the ball, whether it is a rebound or steal. Offensively raw, but has an overall nice touch around the basket.
Lillian Taylor 2022 PG Seaside HS – Lillian is a hard nosed guard for Seaside who attacks the rim aggressively and fearlessly as she fights through contact, resulting in trips to the free throw line and tough finishes. She is a defensive workhorse who makes it her job to pester the opposition and challenge them through effort and grit. Taylor is quick and never gives up offensively or defensively and scores in bunches at her level for Seaside. Plays at a good pace and knows how to turn the switch and change gears.
JaLay Burns JaLay Burns 5'2" | PG Irrigon | 2022 State OR 2022 5’2” PG Irrigon HS – JaLay plays at a blistering pace for Irrigon, as defensively, she is always on the lookout to make correction rotations and get the jump on passes for a steal as she has the quickness and awareness as an elite defender. Once she gets to the ball, she is off to the races, where her court awareness is on display as a facilitator who makes it look easy. She has a few different gears and knows how to change them accordingly to her surroundings. An above average shooter with the ability to get into the lane and either finish or dump it off.
