There are plenty of scorers in the 2021 class, however, there are also the players that are overlooked for their abilities to set up main scorers or their entire team. On the other hand, sometimes lethal scorers also have the dual threat of putting the ball in the basket and the ability to facilitate. [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"] of Corvallis is more of the throwback blend of the point guard, one who finds that patience is virtue and less is more when it comes to running a team. [player_tooltip player_id="158480" first="Hilary" last="James"], who had a 35 point outburst versus McMinnville in the 6A State Tournament, is also as equally as dangerous distributor. [player_tooltip player_id="158476" first="Sydney" last="Burns"] and [player_tooltip player_id="158486" first="Cami" last="Fulcher"] are two aggressive guards who also handle the keys to the offense for their respective clubs whereas [player_tooltip player_id="158485" first="Leah" last="Doutt"] is another prototypical point guard with great pace and skills. Here are the top facilitators of the class of 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"] 2021 5’7” PG Corvallis HS - Through the last four games of the season Anna averaged 5.5 assists and 3.5 on the season as the focal point of the Corvallis offense. She isn’t the offensive juggernaut who scores by will, but she is the patient floor general who surveys the floor and makes the right play. The soccer/basketball star displays a lot of leadership qualities, as she is the vocal, devout leader of a Spartans team who had a great run against an incredibly La Salle team in the 5A State Tournament. She had an inspirational game with 12 points and 6 assists as her facilitating skills on full display. [player_tooltip player_id="158480" first="Hilary" last="James"] 2021 5’6” PG South Salem HS - Everybody knows [player_tooltip player_id="158480" first="Hilary" last="James"] as the dynamic dribbler with the separation skills and quickness to get any shot off and score in bundles for the Saxons. But those that watch her also know her as the facilitator due in part to her dribble combination moves, as she attracts double teams and escapes them and dishes the ball off to teammates for easy scores. Hilary averaged 5.5 assists for South Salem as the prolific point guard who handles all the duties for her team and makes her teammates better when she is on the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="158476" first="Sydney" last="Burns"] 2021 5’8” PG Wilsonville HS - Sydney isn’t within the traditional sense of a facilitator - one who makes it their main focus, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t within her skill set. She plays at such a tremendous pace, but also has the court awareness to know when to dump it off to a teammate who is within scoring range. This was apparent when she was amongst the leaders in the Portland Holiday Classic in assists per game as she dished out 6.0 assists every contest. Her demeanor on offense is attack, attack, attack - however, she has the ability to slow to game down which leads to a great pass. [player_tooltip player_id="158485" first="Leah" last="Doutt"] 2021 5’6” PG McNay HS - Lead was amongst leaders in assists her game at the Portland Holiday Classic at 5.33, she is a smooth floor leader with the confidence to lead a team and with great resilience and structure. She is always sure to play within her own pace and boundaries and set the tone according to her strengths. Amongst her strengths is the ability to see openings before they occur and she can really thread the needle. Plagued by injuries last season, she looks to continue this trend with McNary next season and cap off a successful career. [player_tooltip player_id="158486" first="Cami" last="Fulcher"] 2021 5’8” PG West Linn HS - Cami plays somewhat of a utility role within a West Linn offense that has many different options on offense. They like to spread the floor with Cami at the top, where they pass the ball and wait for the best opportune time to attack. Fulcher is aggressive and dynamic with her placement and dribbles and slings it off in an instant without allowing the defense to react whatsoever. This was shown in her team leading 3.7 assists per game. It should also be noted at the won the Three Rivers Defensive Player of the Year. [player_tooltip player_id="158503" first="Bella" last="Stone"] 2021 5’5" SG South Medford HS - Plays a significant role within the Panthers system as a pivotal guard who makes big plays at the right moment and sets up players around her. Knows how to throw the ball up the court to get easy scores as well as weave the pass through traffic. This translated in 5 assists per game for Stone as the engine for a dangerous South Medford team that can rev it up at any given moment. Perhaps Bella was the spark that initiated such a lethal attack for the talented group.
