Some proved that they were not only worthy of playing time, but excelled as floor generals that eased the brutality of battle through their uncanny ability to facilitate the game. Tigard’s Hailey Shimojima Hailey Shimojima 5'5" | PG Tigard | 2023 State OR is a bright, quick guard with great potential as a high IQ guard who can see the floor. Beaverton’s Madison Naro Madison Naro 5'7" | PG Beaverton | 2023 State OR is a precocious talent with big shoes to fill next season for the Beavers. Emma Sixta Emma Sixta 5'10" | SG Jesuit | 2023 State OR is an athletic guard for Jesuit who plays nicely within the system but can create her own opportunities. Sofia Bell Sofia Bell 6'0" | PG St. Mary's Academy | 2023 State #34 Nation OR is a household name but proved that she can distribute the ball as well. Last but not least, Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR is a energetic, skilled guard who helped run the offense at Barlow. Here are the Top Facilitators of 2023.
Hailey Shimojima Hailey Shimojima 5'5" | PG Tigard | 2023 State OR 2023 5’5” PG Tigard HS – Hailey is a slick, seasoned floor general for Tigard who made immediate impact for the Tigers despite her freshman status. She was amongst the Portland Holiday Classic’s assist leaders, as she dished out 4 per game with a total of 12 during the 3 game span. She is a quick, agile guard with a high awareness and affinity for making the right play at the right time. Shimojima fits the mold as the traditional point guard who impresses with the fundamentals but also has the flair and confidence to go with it and will only continue to progress and grow into her game.
Madison Naro Madison Naro 5'7" | PG Beaverton | 2023 State OR 2023 5’7” PG Beaverton HS – Madison was another bright spot for the Beavers as a steadfast guard with leadership qualities through her good decision making and consistency. She could be depended upon to fit into the rotation without any cause for concern or leaks and played well with their surrounding pieces. Her aggressive demeanor, mixed with her patience and overall court vision result in great passes and alignment with her teammates. Naro averaged 2.0 assists per game in her role, but looks to step up to the spotlight next season.
Emma Sixta Emma Sixta 5'10" | SG Jesuit | 2023 State OR 2023 5’10” SG Jesuit HS – Emma is a tall, athletic guard that has a tight handle which she uses to weave in and out of defenses and possesses a great hardware for pinpointing the big highlight pass. Because she is a constant offensive threat due to her length, size, and ability to take it inside at any given moment, this draws in defenders and frees up her teammates, who know to hover around the paint. She was amongst the leaders in the Portland Holiday Classic in assists with 3.0 assists per game and led her team in this category for the season.
Sofia Bell Sofia Bell 6'0" | PG St. Mary's Academy | 2023 State #34 Nation OR 2023 6’0” SG St Mary’s Academy – Sofia is already a huge commodity regionally and nationally as an electric guard that takes it to the rim, can light it up from deep, and plays with a sheer confidence that is both intimidating and hard to match. Because she is a complete offensive player, it comes with no surprise that she also knows how to distribute the ball as well. She is constantly pressing the subject matter when the ball is in her hands and she knows how to deliver the ball to her teammates who are in scoring position. Averaged 3.0 assists per game last season.
Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR 2023 5’9” Barlow HS – Kennedie is known as the best soccer player in her class in the State of Oregon and is also making big waves on the hardwood. Her tenacity, combined with her agility and fast pace of play is truly something to take notice of. She has a knack for pushing the ball and finding opportunities for her teammates, which translates into 5.2 assists last season for the guard. To say that she knows how to thread the needle is an understatement and she is always fully aware of where her teammates are.
