Next years outlook sees most of the county’s best programs returning key pieces as they try to continue the winning tradition the 910 carries. Here is part two of some of the top returning players to lookout for in Onslow County during the 2020-21 season.
Carolina Coria (White Oak guard, 2023)
Coria is another one of the many Onslow County freshman that had big seasons to start their high school basketball journey. At White Oak, she averaged 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals per game and had some big performances throughout the year. She’ll take on an expanded scoring role for the Vikings next season with the graduation of standout senior Amazriah Rawls.
Shaylin Pollock (Southwest Onslow forward, 2021)
Pollock was a scoring machine for Southwest Onslow putting up over 21 points per game which was one of the best marks in the county. The rising senior forward was dominant at times as she consistently poured in points from anywhere on the court. Another big season should help the Stallions improve their win total from nine wins this past season.
Armani Reid (Southwest Onslow guard, 2023)
Another freshman that impacted an Onslow County basketball program, Reid will be another key to Southwest Onslow’s success next year. The rising sophomore guard played with a lot of confidence during her first season as a Stallion. She averaged over 14 points per game and will be counted on once again in a tough Coastal 8 1-A/2-A conference.
Cheyenne Flatt (Jacksonville guard, 2022)
With the graduation of eight seniors, including UNC signee Kennedy Todd-Williams Kennedy Todd-Williams 5'10" | CG Jacksonville | 2020 State NC , UNC Pembroke signee Kelly Luck, and Mia Tucker, Jacksonville will have to replace nearly 75% of their scoring next year. Top returning scorer Cheyenne Flatt will be one of many Cardinals that will take on a significantly larger role. The rising junior guard is a knockdown shooter and plays with a lot of energy and effort.
