Fields is strong, long and athletic, and even doubled as a small forward but her ability to create her shot, elevate on her jumper, and knock it down from all over the court has been something to see over the years. I had a chance to speak with her in-depth during my Holiday tournament trifecta and she simply amazed me with her knowledge of the game and even shared how she broke things down but here are some of the other top shooting guards I have personally seen from the region
2021
Madison Ott Madison Ott 6'0" | SG Centennial | 2021 State TX (Frisco Centenial)
Ott showed me a variety of things in a short span at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational and with her being long and athletic, those were pluses as well. She’s can score in droves in so many ways but her mid to long-range jumper is smooth, she elevates over defenders and knocks it down with ease
Nicole Petrakovitz Nicole Petrakovitz 5'8" | SG Oak Ridge | 2021 State TX (Oak Ridge)
Petrakovitz has a scorers mentality as she finds ways to put the ball in the basket. She can attack from anywhere and with good body control, she finishes acrobatically, even after the lick but her jumper is solid, she creates off the dribble and sets defenders up nicely
Kaley Perkins Kaley Perkins 6'0" | SG Langham Creek | 2021 State TX (Langham Creek)
Perkings is heading to Oklahoma and based on their history, she’ll fit in nicely because she’s a big guard that can flat out shoot it. Her wingspan and ability to catch and shoot with accuracy has always been there yet her range is around the NBA line but she can switch it up and attack
Amber Williams (Cy Springs)
Williams has added something positive to her game every year I’ve watched her since middle school and she is not only an offensive threat but a deep one at that. She wants the ball in pressure situations and she delivers in the clutch but her frame lets her overpower some guards
2022
Kayla Cooper Kayla Cooper 5'9" | SG Plano East | 2022 State TX (Plano East)
Cooper is smooth, handles pressure and plays within herself plus she can score quickly or get hers in the flow but make no mistake about it she can flat out shoot it either with the stop and pop from mid-range or dropping the long ball from another stratosphere but her variety of moves gives her options
Kyla Deck Kyla Deck 5'7" | SG Lone Star | 2022 State TX (Frisco Lone Star)
Deck gives defenders the option of “picking their poison” because she attacks so quickly you may want to ease back a little yet if you do, that quick release on her jumper is solid from mid to long. She handles the ball well, under pressure and can pull-up in the open court and drain it
