Speaking of ending a good thing, Coach Tracy Fuerst is stepping away from her grassroots coaching duties. “After 10 plus years of coaching AAU under the Greg Grant Basketball Club (both boys and girls teams), I am hanging up my whistle and clipboard. It’s been a phenomenal experience and I have had the privilege of getting to know so many players, families, coaches, sports writers, you name it.”
In honor of Coach Fuerst and the talented Greg Grant Basketball squad, we will look at their roster from this summer.
Olivia Kubik Olivia Kubik CG Utica Ford | 2021 State MI (G, Henry Ford II)
“Just picked up her third offer. She is a sharp shooter with no limits on her range. She also brings speed to any defense. Averages 15 points a game.” – Coach Fuerst
Maddie Dolenga Maddie Dolenga CG Rochester Adams | 2021 State MI (G, Rochester Adams)
“Just signed to play soccer at Ashland. As a multi-sport athlete, Maddie brings great work ethic and huge basketball IQ to the game.” – Coach Fuerst
Makayla Fuerst Makayla Fuerst 5'8" | PG Warren Mott | 2021 State MI (G, Waterford Mott)
“The most all around best athlete on the team, and that shows in her game. Consistent offensive threat whether it’s seeing the floor, attacking the rim or shooting from distance. 10 points a game average. She also guards the opponents best player. 2.5 steals a game. She will have a difficult decision to make has she has a lot of interest from coaches for both basketball and cross/track.”
– Coach Fuerst
Sarah Soraghan Sarah Soraghan PG Royal Oak | 2021 State MI (G, Royal Oak)
“Is a player any coach would love to have. Understands the game, plays at a high level and can contribute at both ends of the court. She too is a multi-sport athlete who gained much deserved recognition in her junior year breakout season and our short AAU season. She averages 15 points, 2.5 steals per game.” Coach Fuerst
Tricia Sankiewicz (G/F, Lakeview)
“Can shoot from long range, hit a jumper or post up. As a very versatile player, she can score bunches of points quickly. She also is active on the boards and defends with a great deal of pressure.
– Coach Fuerat
Emily Grulke Emily Grulke 5'11" | SF Lutheran Northwest | 2023 State MI (F/Post, Lutheran Northwest)
“A 2023 who’s played up with us for 3 years now (no one would know it unless they looked at her profile). This kid is easily a top 10 player in the state who has high stock-value. She averages a double double every game (12 points, 10 rebounds). At 6-foot she can also play point guard. She’s a name to get to know.” – Coach Fuerst
Kira Vance (Post, Royal Oak)
“Has speed in a 6-foot frame. She just started playing basketball her freshman year so there is still room to grow, but she can defend in the paint, doesn’t have to be told to boxout, and can flat out rebound. Lots of upside with her.” – Coach Fuerst
Jackie Monoso (G/F, Macomb Dakota)
“Took a break from high school ball last season, but stayed consistent in playing AAU and training in the gym. Jackie, who is said to be returning to the Dakota team in the winter, brings solid post play as well as consistent outside shooting.” – Coach Fuerst
Laura Petersmark (G, Rochester Adams)
“Has a great combination: A motor that doesn’t quit and the smartest player on the court. With aspirations to be a lawyer, there’s no question she’s going to continue to do big things on and off the court.” – Coach Fuerst
