This group of Juniors has what it takes to play at the collegiate level. Junior season is the time to get recognized. These players are apart of the North Coast Section Division 2:
Samantha Armas- 2021, 5’3”, Guard, #20, Newark Memorial High School(Newark, CA)
Samantha Armas is small but ballsy. Armas definitely has lots of spunk. Everything that Samantha does is at 100%. I have actually talked about Samantha Armas before and she has lots of skill on the dribble. Her dribbling abilities are at a high skill level. She is small, but her dribbling ability allows her to dribble past most defenders. Samantha is able to score from any different spots on the court. Armas is a very aggressive player and a great scorer on the drive. Averaged 10.4 PPG, and scored a total of 282 points during the 2019-2020 season. Even more impressive, she averaged 61% from the free-throw line. I would always trust her to shoot game-winning free-throws or take the last shot to win the game for my team. Samantha is very well equipped to take on multiple opponents because of her quickness. Her touch around the basket is phenomenal, and nothing stands in her way. She gains momentum pretty fast compared to other players because of her speed. Samantha Armas is one of the most talented players out there in the Bay Area and merits some recognition.
Alexsandra Alvarado- 2021, PG & SG, #2, Salesian College Preparatory High School
Alexsandra Alvarado is a leader, plain and simple. She has a very high basketball IQ, and she is the definition of a collegiate athlete. Her communication is so prominent on the court, and she seems to be well respected by her teammates. There is so much confidence in Alexsandra, and she has such a great touch around the basket. Alexsandra doesn’t commit many turnovers, which is a great asset to have as a player. She averaged 9.4 PPG and scored a total of 291 points during her Junior season. She also averaged 2.9 APG, 3.0 RPG, and 2.9 SPG. Her physicality skyrockets compared to other players. She is one of the most exciting players to watch on the court. She had a huge hand in their 10-0 league record and 28-5 overall record. She is also nationally ranked #19 and ranked #7 in California.
Raquel Williams- 2021, 5’10”, PF & C, #42, Alameda High School(Alameda, CA)
Raquel Williams of Alameda High School is stealthy, smooth, and agile. Raquel is a star player on her team. We should also mention she is the captain of her 10-0 record team and D2 North Coast Section champion. Raquel is an all-around player, and can basically do everything on the court. Has amazing dribbling skills, and is a phenomenal playmaker. She plays with everything she has on defense, and on offense, she is able to score easily near the basket. She averaged 8.3 PPG and scored a total of 182 points for the 2019-2020 season. She also averaged 6.8 RPG. Raquel is strong and powerful on the court, and she has an easy time scoring because of her quickness. Raquel is a player that should not go unnoticed during her Senior season, and I’m excited to see what she brings to the table.
