Take a look at prospects who have proven they can truly score the basketball in many ways. Their offensive gifts don’t go unnoticed and have helped them be successful so far in their athletic careers. They are all defensive standouts in their own rights of course. They all bring a different level of play to the court on both ends but these players have the ability to take over the game on the offensive end.
Mackenzie Hogenson | 5’9 G | Wisconsin Blaze 2021
A natural scorer with a great eye for getting to the rim. The lengthy guard has the ability to be one of the most versatile scorers on her squad. She led her high school team last season in points with 11 points per game. Her ability to finish against contact is so impressive. She can create a shot for herself off the dribble and does so well making space between herself and her defender. Hogenson is a knock down perimeter shooter with consistency and a quick release.
Nikki Dienberg | 5’7 G | Wisconsin Impact 2021
Dienberg does a little bit of everything when she is on the court. She can score the ball effortlessly and does well using her quick first step and finishing strong at the basket. She has developed her mid-range game and continues to add points using a floater and a jump stop. Most comfortable attacking or getting an open shot off a hard screen or cut, Dienberg also has a very nice shot behind the rim. She is consistent off the pass and has range as well.
Casey Jepson | Wisconsin Blaze | 5’7 G | 2021
Jepson has snappy and quick handles that allow her to maneuver through players effortlessly. Jepson has a very quick first step that grants her the ability to get past her defender with ease; this also makes her capable to stop on a time which she is great at. She has a very consistent mid range jumper off the bounce. Jepson also has very good athleticism, shown through her highlight attacks to the rim or her quick release three point finishes. She is smooth with the ball, gliding through the defense and getting to the basket.
Ziy Conner | Wisconsin Playmakers | 6’0 F | 2021
Conner continues to be so skilled inside the paint. She has incredible mobility and movement for her size. She has very skilled fundamentals as well. She has a great drop-step move, where she gets the defender going one way, then seals her off with her body allowing for an easy finish inside. She can finish with either hand around the rim, which is imperative for someone who may be undersized at the next level. Conner is very disciplined on defense, she knows exactly what she needs to do to be disruptive. She doesn’t try crazy blocks, but simply puts her hands up and forces defenders to finish through her. Conner continues to develop her shot from deep and this perk will allow her to be successful as she moves up in competition.
Breanna Ackley Breanna Ackley 6'1" | SF Stratford | 2021 State WI | Wisconsin Playmakers | 6’0 F | 2021
Ackley has a very good natural athleticism shown by her ability to finish above defenders and finishing put-back rebounds. She seems to have a high standing vertical jump as well. Ackley attacks the basket fearlessly, she is not afraid of contact, and in fact she seems to look for it. She has a pretty good jump hook, and she’s very smooth on the block. She can shoot from deep, therefore this makes her more of a stretch four. She is confident with the ball in her hands and the offense just runs smoothly when she is on the floor.
Leah Bailey | Wisconsin RAP | 5’10 F | 2021
Bailey is listed as a forward but is certainly an in-and out player who could be listed as a wing with great positional height. She has a long body with a tall vertical reach; she moves with long strides allowing her to cover a lot of ground in transition. She has advanced guard skills for her size and her ability to handle the ball in both the half court and transition is super impressive. She is most deadly off the jab step into a one-dribble pull up. She is a rebounding specialist as well and uses her body well to seal off taller opponents and chase down boards.
