With the 2020-21 season being cut short and pushed back, they are all excited to get back on the floor with their high school teams.
Lets take a look at some of these seniors that have jumped up in the rankings and are ready to prove they are some of the best players in their 2021 class.
Avery VanSickle Avery VanSickle 5'9" | SG Regis Jesuit | 2021 State #71 Nation CO (Regis Jesuit)
VanSickle is committed to the University of Washington and has been climbing the ranks throughout her career because of her ability to create off the dribble. VanSickle has showed that she is more than capable of playing at the Division-I level in her last summer circuit. University of Washington will have a player who can shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor and can get to the rim with a variety of finish moves. VanSickle is an efficient player when she is on the floor and has great court awareness. She already passed the 1,000-career point mark last season as a junior and will look push her team to a state title this year. VanSickle averaged 16.5 points per game on 147-for-355 (41 percent) shooting from the field in 2019-20. She has shown improvements in her game every passing year, so her senior season promises to be something to behold.
Courtney Wristen Courtney Wristen 6'2" | PF Broomfield | 2021 State CO (Broomfield)
Standing at 6-foot-2, Wristen is a player who is tough for teams to contain with her ability to play in the post or step outside. Such a versatile player, she is committed to the University of San Diego, which should be happy to be bringing in a relentless rebounder who has great footwork in the post and is an able shooter behind the arc. Wristen averaged 14.2 points, nine rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as a junior. She does not show any signs of slowing down, either, and will look to lead her team as a senior this season. Wristen is just shy of scoring 1,000 points with 857 total in her career, so there’s little doubt she hits that mark before leaving Broomfield.
Timiya Guevara Timiya Guevara 5'4" | PG Denver South | 2021 State CO (Denver South)
Guevara plays with a lot of heart and has a rare sort of grit that makes her stand out among the rest. She is a shifty guard who is not afraid to get through the teeth of the defense. Committed to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Guevara will bring a ton of energy to her college team and the ability to knock down shots from behind the arc. Guevara is a player who can stretch teams out and can defend among the best, averaging 5.8 steals per game as a junior in 2019-20. She also averaged 22 points per game on 167-for-324 (52 percent) shooting from the field her junior year and Guevara enters her senior year already with a total of 1,420 career points.
Dasiya Jones Dasiya Jones 6'0" | SF Grandview | 2021 State CO (Grandview)
Jones on a very talented roster that is one of the top teams in the country. Despite what the numbers say, her game says otherwise. She is a player that has great size and length, making her a tough guard and allowing her to defend multiple positions. Jones does a great job of moving without the ball and has a good midrange shot. Jones is a underrated player that does the little things to make her team successful. She averaged 4.4 points per game last year and will get more touches this coming season. Jones also had a good summer circuit, which made her stand out even more. Committed to Regis University, Jones will provide value to the team with her raw athleticism and could end up being a steal with the upside she has shown in high school.
Abby Wrede Abby Wrede 5'8" | SG Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO (Cherry Creek)
Wrede is another player that is playing on a very talented roster that competes among the best team in the nation. She has made huge strides in her game and is ready to show that she can take the reins as a leader on her Bruins team. A player who can shoot the ball extremely well from behind the arc, Wrede can also attack off the dribble and has improved significantly as a defender. She also shows the ability to make the right reads and get her teammates involved when she has the ball in her hands. Wrede averaged 10.6 points per game on 110-for-208 (53 percent) shooting from the floor as a junior in 2019-20 and being a knock-down shooter from behind the arc, she shot 32 for 76 (42 percent) from 3-point range. She is committed to Hawaii Pacific University.
