The teams at the Expo in OKC didn’t have names, but all day there was a team that people could not stop talking about – Team 3. Team 3 was absolutely LOADED with talent. By the end of the day, they had it all figured out and were basically unstoppable. In the third game, the team had 40 points at the half and was drawing some attention from attendees and other coaches. Nobody expected them to finish with 97 points. While going undefeated, their biggest disappointment may have just been missing out on 100. Let’s take a closer look at the stars that made up the best team at Solid Rock on Sunday morning.
Jazmin Nunez Jazmin Nunez 5'5" | PG Paul's Valley | 2023 State OK | 5-3 PG | Paul’s Valley | 2023
Nunez is a quick point guard with a nice shot from deep. She plays tough defense and is a big-time disruptor when the opponent has the ball. Nunez is a small school star who put on a great show with her new teammates on Sunday.
Mat T’yawna Harper Mat T’yawna Harper 5'6" | CG Tulsa Union | 2021 State OK | 5-5 SG | Tulsa Union | 2021 | @MatTyawna
Harper is a vocal leader who plays like you would expect a senior to play. She helped to guide her younger teammates verbally and by distributing the ball to them in a timely manner when they worked their way open. Harper can score seemingly at will sometimes and was a big part of Team 3’s scoring.
Azariah Jackson | 5-4 PG | Lawton Macarthur | 2022 | @AzariahJackson7
Jackson is very, very quick. She uses her quickness to step into passing lanes and is an absolute defensive wizard. She goes hard to the hoop and finishes strong through contact. Azariah is very unselfish and put on a show with her court vision.
Dalena Fisher Dalena Fisher 5'6" | PG Lawton | 2022 State OK | 5-6 SG | Lawton | 2022 | @dalenafisher
I had never seen Fisher play in person until Sunday and I was very glad that I finally did. Dalena has very good size for a guard and is fast in transition. She gets out on the break very well and finishes at the basket, often drawing contact. She is a true scorer.
Carley Gasaway Carley Gasaway 5'8" | CG Choctaw | 2022 State OK | 5-7 SG | Choctaw | 2022 | @CGasaway2022
Gasaway plays on one of the better grassroots teams in the state in THSS Mavs Elite. There is a reason for that. She has outstanding handles. She can shoot off the dribble and she can make it look too easy sometimes. Gasaway is an offensive star and stood out for Team 3 on Sunday.
Micah Gray Micah Gray 5'8" | CG Classen SAS | 2022 State OK | 5-8 SF | Classen SAS | 2022 | @Micah2022
Another Mavs Elite player who also hoops for what is probably the best high school team in the state, Gray showed that she is unafraid to use her body to get inside and finish. She is great at playing through contact and completing the play, often getting the “and1” to go along with the bucket.
Reagan Fox | 5-9 SF | Blanchard | 2022 | @ReaganFox24
I keep a tracker of what players have as far as scholarship offers and who has committed. When I get to see a player play for the first time, it is nice when I can see that the level of talent matches up with the level (and amount) of offers. This was my first time seeing Reagan in person and I can tell you that the one D-I offer she has is not enough. She has great size, can shoot the three and is a heady player who knows how to defend. If you are a D-I coach, you need to take a look at her during her junior and senior seasons.
Brooklyn Long | 5-10 F | Edmond Santa Fe | 2021 | @brooklyn_longg
Brooklyn is from a basketball family and is another player with great size. She moves between several positions and has the body to play inside to go along with the handles to play on the perimeter. She moves through traffic easily with smooth ballhandling and can score in a variety of ways. Having seen her in showcases two weekends in a row, I can tell you that she has a consistent motor and always goes hard.
Kori Rainwater | 5-11 PF | Tahlequah | 2024
Rainwater was the youngest player on the squad, but you never would have known. She was a presence inside who kept the dribble-drives for the opposition to a minimum. She is a solid rebounder and over the course of her high school career could do very big things for the Tigers.
Jordyn Turner Jordyn Turner 6'2" | PF Casady | 2021 State OK | 6-2 PF/C | Casady | 2021 | @JordynTurner34
Seeing Turner two weekends in a row gave me chance to see how far she has come with her efforts to get back in shape following a leg injury. She has rare size for the women’s game and her skill set is off the charts. She opened one of the early games with a deep three-pointer and at times was undefendable in the middle – snagging rebounds and getting putbacks at will. As mentioned in the previous showcase write-up on her, Turner is down to four schools and either Eastern Michigan, Morgan State, UTEP or Southern Nazarene are going to add a tremendous player sometime in the near future.
