In their first game in Indiana for Run 4 The Roses they were matched up against Ohio Premier. Oregon Elite started off the game on a 11-0 run, where Sydney Burns Sydney Burns 5'8" | PG Wilsonville | 2021 State OR was a sparkplug on both ends of the floor, accumulating three steals during the offensive spurt. Burns stole the ball and found Danika Star and on another possession, took it herself on the other drive.
Bishop was a defensive force, as she had a block and board, scored inside, and on another possession dumped it to Starr for an open three. Hope Hassmann scored off a three, then Natalie Lathrop Natalie Lathrop 6'3" | C Tualatin | 2021 State OR scored three points from a free throw and inside move. Hope hits another three from a Fulcher pass. Bishop and Lathrop found ways to score inside and Starr and Hassmann were hitting from deep as Oregon Elite went into halftime leading 41 – 12.
The second half went very much so the same, as Berry scored their first four points. The other bigs took their turns, as Bishop and Lathrop were called upon next to score. McClave hits a three, as Fulcher takes it inside herself and Maya Hoff Maya Hoff 6'1" | PG Southridge | 2021 State OR scores off a nice post move. Oregon Elite was running on all cylinders as they each took their turn carving into Ohio Premier. One significant and impressive play was from Hassmann, who had three offensive rebounds on one possession, as she had a significant statistic and all-around game for her team. Triple Towers
One of the first things you notice about Oregon Elite 17U Navy’s roster is the presence of their three forwards, who each bring something unique to the table. Schuyler Berry Schuyler Berry 6'2" | C Grant | 2021 State OR is a defensive specialist who also finds ways to score in the post and has a solid shot from the free throw line. Emilia Bishop Emilia Bishop 6'1" | PF Wilsonville | 2021 State OR can do a little bit of it all on the floor, as she can find others but also has the strength to score down low. Natalie Lathrop Natalie Lathrop 6'3" | C Tualatin | 2021 State OR is a tall forward with a tremendous wingspan who is an absolute match-up nightmare for her opposition. Playing these three players in rotation brings a lot of results and interesting differences when you play certain combinations of them out on the floor. No matter which are on the floor, Oregon Elite always yields results.
Versatile Scorers
Dani Starr Dani Starr 6'1" | SG Sheldon | 2022 State OR and Ana McClave Ana McClave 5'10" | SG Crescent Valley | 2021 State OR are Oregon Elite’s two perimeter specialists, as they bring a lot of unique ways to score out on the perimeter. They know their shooting pockets and have excellent shot selections as the two had 18 points between them. But what you notice upon closer inspection is that they bring a lot of other qualities out on the floor, as Starr is a tremendous facilitator that plays on her scoring ability and McClave makes a lot of plays based on her defensive IQ. These two guards are always a threat to score with whatever teammates are out on the floor and bring immediate offense when they step out on the court.
Burns and Hassmann
Sydney Burns Sydney Burns 5'8" | PG Wilsonville | 2021 State OR and Hope Hassmann are cut from the same cloth, as they are both high motor guards that make plays on both ends of the floor, constantly. They do it in different ways, as Burns is more of the ball dominant variety guard that defensively demands the ball, but from her opposition. Burns had four steals within the first few minutes and is a ferocious on-ball defender. Hassmann makes plays without the ball, as she gets rebounds at an excellent rate and had an equally as amazing three offensive rebounding sequence which eventually resulted in a score. Hassmann sank two from deep and perhaps had the most impressive individual statline of the entire game.
