Des Moines East finished with just six wins a year ago, placing fourth in the CIML Metro Conference standings at 5-6. That was with a group of seniors that included leading scorer and rebounder Rachel Puok Rachel Puok 5'9" | SG Des Moines East | 2020 State IA . She has moved on along with Brecklin Williams and Hannah Oleson. Juniors such as Remmi Dyer, Alea Hoof and Lyric Sellers will be counted on to shoulder the bulk of the production. The Scarlets made just 92 three-pointers last year, but Sellers accounted for 41 of those.

Alea Hoof – 5.2 PPG, 2.0 RPG
Remmi Dyer – 2.8 PPG, 2.2 RPG
Des Moines Hoover Huskies

Des Moines Hoover was a young team in 2019-20, and the Huskies will hope that experience pays off this winter. Hoover won just three games, averaging 36 points a night. They made only 77 three-pointers in 22 games, and lose 29 of those with the graduation of Daija Bates. Olivia Jones, a junior, is the leading returning scorer along with the likes of Taysia Young, Amaria Turner and Cynthia Renes. Turner also had 129 rebounds a year ago, with Jones picking up 37 steals.

Des Moines Lincoln Railsplitters

After failing to win a game last year, the Des Moines Lincoln program has nowhere to go but up in 2020-21. The Railsplitters averaged under 21 points per game, but leading scorer Janae Wynter returns. Wynter, a sophomore, posted 78 points on the year. Junior Jaida Taylor led the team in rebounding with 82 boards, and was also tops in assists with 21. Marissa Albright, Sayli Simms and Celia Emunah all started at least seven games a season ago, as well.
