Taliyah Johnson Taliyah Johnson 5'6" | PG Temple | 2021 State TX -5’6 (Temple HS) @TaliyahJ_
Johnson’s first step has always been something I enjoyed watching, from getting the ball in the backcourt and pushing it for basket and assists, you just need to run with her because she knows how to get the ball to teammates yet that same first step combined with her ability to create her shot in the half-court continues to be a valuable tool as she can dish off the dribble or finish off balance but that creating also gives her room to get her shot off and she keeps showing mid to long-range consistency
Evelyn Quiroz-5’6 (Laredo United HS) @evelynquirozz4
Quiroz was labeled as a Top 100 player after the first time I saw her and I just read she just received a D1 offer, go me yet go her is even better because she scores in droves multiple ways, and her ability to maneuver to different spots for the midrange is second to none as she can dish off the pass which even makes her more of a threat. She plays within herself, can get it in the flow but with her range, at the drop of a dime she can take over a game but she also understands how to make those around her better
Alexis Calderon-5’3 (Chappell Hill HS)
Calderon caught my eye during the summer and to show me I wasn’t seeing things, she did even more at the 250 Expo. She was one of the fastest with the ball at the event and better yet, she’s one of the fastest I’ve seen with the ball in Texas, and her body control and ball-handling enable her to hit teammates on the money countless times yet that speed and ball-handling also leave many defenders cemented and with her body control, she can finish after contact. Throw in mid to long-range, deep deep range, and voila
Schyler Falls-5’8 (Morton Ranch HS) @Hoop3rschy5
Falls showed range immediately that I had her initially labeled as a shooting guard yet as the event progressed, she mixed it up playing the passing lane as she slides into that “long and athletic” category yet her ballhandling after the steal and seeing the floor on the break gave me a different view plus she actually ran the point in the half-court set numerous times. She plays smart, understands how to create her shot, and can attack at will against just about anyone yet she also creates her shot nicely
Canai McPherson-5’3 (Mansfield Lakeridge HS) @canaim03
McPherson hadn’t been in front of me in a couple of years and I didn’t feel bad because hardly anyone could stay in front of her. She’s fast and can blow by you with either hand and I mentioned to her prior to the game could she still shoot the ball, she dropped a trifecta of three’s consecutively, that’s three in a row, turned to me and smiled but her ballhandling and shooting has always been there, she’s under control, makes decisions and see the floor very well
