Keep in mind that Niyah Johnson Niyah Johnson 6'0" | PF Clear Springs | 2021 State TX and Jermia Green Jermia Green 5'8" | PG Clear Springs | 2021 State TX , both Top 100 seniors, did not play in the event, I had a chance to catch a couple of 2022 Top 100 players as well as a couple of others I hadn’t seen or seen much of so here’s a glimpse, keep in mind it’s early and I had to bounce for my granddaughter’s birthday party
Kenna Gibson Kenna Gibson 5'5" | CG Clear Springs | 2022 State TXGibson adjusted her game over the club season from the “go-to” girl to one who got hers in the flow until it was finally realized on her new squad she was definitely a “go-to” player and her ability to score not only from mid to long-range but off the dribble and in the clutch is what landed her as a Top 100 a while back but either you know ow or hopefully you’ll figure it out but I knew she was special that initial sighting. What I do know is that she can play the combo, maybe even the bongo but once you let her get into the rhythm, she’s hard to contain as she went completely off in the second game after a double-digit performance to open things up
Kylie Minter Kylie Minter 5'5" | SG Clear Springs | 2022 State TXMinter can flat out score, you have shooters and you have scorers, those are players that just find ways to put the ball in the basket and I’m glad her dad caught the “and one of the day” at the event because just that play solidifies what I just wrote because one more time, I’m a real evaluator and I knew this kid was special the first time I saw her as well, poise goes a long way especially when you can shoot it and want it down the stretch in tight situations so she and Gibson will join the seniors to make things happen this season
Miriam Light
Light showed she could be an additional scorer as the midrange looked pretty good. She falls into that “long and athletic” mode, did a good job attacking the rim as well as playing the passing lane but her “on ball” defense was solid against a very competitive team, it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against fits perfectly and I also liked how she played within herself and let the game come to her
Reina Nasir
Nasir was a pleasant surprise, I love when I ]get those before the regular season starts as I put my petabyte of storage to work so she was more than serviceable on both ends as she showed she could rebound on either end as well as finish strongly after contact but here’s something else. she too is “long and athletic” and the Chargers have been one of the best pressing teams in the area since the school opened, I see her fitting in nicely when needed
