The Expo 250 showcased some of the top talents in the state of Kentucky. These young ladies showed up to show why they deserve the opportunity for a college scholarship. Each player at the expo played extremely hard. I want to take time to highlight a few of the players that caught my eye. Let’s look at the point guards.
Lele Nguyen- 2022- Ryle- Lele was probably one of the best ball handlers at the expo. She displayed great change of pace moves. Her fearlessness showed as she attacked the basket. Talking to her in between games I could tell how much she loves the game and how confident she is in herself. She is scrappy on defense. She is a tough point guard who can lead a team. If she isn’t being recruited yet I am not sure what coaches are waiting for.
Amaya Asher Amaya Asher 5'7" | PG Central | 2023 State KY – 2022- Louisville Central- Amaya is a tough point guard with some flash. She has a great vision. She made some highlight-worthy no-look passes during her games. She can get to the basket and finish. Amaya handles the ball well. She is a solid defender. Amaya can score the ball. She gets busy! She will be a solid college player.
Trinity Rowe Trinity Rowe 5'7" | PG Pikeville | 2024 State KY – 2024- Pikeville- Trinity is a young player with a lot of experience. She has played varsity since the seventh grade and got time in the Sweet 16. At the expo, her experience showed as she was able to run her team and get everyone involved. Her playmaking ability is a great asset that benefits everyone around her. She comes up with a lot of steals with her defensive toughness. Watching her play you can see why she already holds a D-1 offer.
Paityn Isom- 2024- North Hardin- Paityn is another young point guard with a lot of promise. She has a good skill set at handling the ball and making shots. Her ability to stretch the court will keep defenders playing honest defense. She is a competitor. Her game against Trinity Rowe Trinity Rowe 5'7" | PG Pikeville | 2024 State KY was good to see as they are the future point guards in the state. After that game, I spoke to Trinity and asked her what she thought of Paityn. Trinity said, “She was impressed by her and thought that she could really play.” Look for Paityn to get a lot of minutes on varsity at the point guard spot this year. As she continues to gain experience, looks for her recruiting to skyrocket.
Maddie Kauffman Maddie Kauffman 5'5" | PG Tates Creek | 2022 State KY – 2022- Tates Creek- Maddie’s love for the game can be seen on her face as she plays. She loves competition. Kauffman has a great handle. It’s hard for a defender to take the ball from her. She uses her body well to protect her dribble. If you are on her team and will run the floor she will find you for shots. She sees the court really well. She is a threat on the offensive end with her shot-making ability. She will be playing college basketball.
