Top 250 Expo: Energy Providers Impacting games goes deeper than just scoring. These players did the little things. Some may have stuffed the box score with their rebounding and defensive efforts while others may have done the dirty work that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet. If you needed energy these players provided the juice. 2021 5-5 PG Kristyn Goshay Kristyn Goshay Kristyn Goshay 5'5" | PG Heritage-Conyers | 2021 State GA – Heritage-Conyers The sparkplug guard was up to her old tricks on Sunday, wreaking havoc on defense with her on-ball quickness and weaving around defenders as she blew by in transition. You can always count on Kristyn Goshay Kristyn Goshay Kristyn Goshay 5'5" | PG Heritage-Conyers | 2021 State GA to provide a tremendous effort on both ends of the floor. Even when she’s not scoring, she makes it a point to lift up her teammates with her infectious energy on defense and her unselfishness on offense. 2021 5-9 F Sydney Jones – Hiram Coming off the bench in Game 1, Sydney Jones made an immediate impact. She flew around and helped out anyway she could. In this game, it was primarily on defense. Jones crashed the glass hard and had active hands that led to a game-high 3 steals. Jones is a tough combo-forward that will do the dirty work to help her team win. 2021 5-9 G Aniyah Janae Jones Aniyah Janae Jones Aniyah Janae Jones 5'9" | SG Grovetown | 2021 State GA – Grovetown Aniyah Janae Jones Aniyah Janae Jones Aniyah Janae Jones 5'9" | SG Grovetown | 2021 State GA , a wiry guard with length, provided disruptive on-ball pressure. She was able to take scoring-minded guards out of their game and force them to become passers. Outside of her defensive success, Jones found points driving to the hoop and from beyond the arc. She had a solid performance in a 52-48 win, tallying 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. 2023 5-4 G Cora Barger – East Paulding There was no fear in Cora Barger’s game. She defended some of the best players in camp and did everything she could to slow them down. She sank two long perimeter jumpers and played within herself. More reps against elite competition will only help her development. 2021 5-9 G Jayda Lowe – McEachern Jayda Lowe went crazy in the second half as she nearly willed Team 12 to a wild come from behind victory. Lowe locked in on defense. She was everywhere on the floor, picking up multiple players and using her quick hands to frustrate them. Her nose for the ball on defense led to energy plays on offense, converting two big And-1s. Lowe will need to work on her left hand a little bit more for the next level, but her production couldn’t be ignored going for 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 1 block. 2022 6-0 F Nadiyah Byard Nadiyah Byard 6'0" | PF Griffin | 2022 State GA – Griffin A vocal energetic forward with terrific length, anytime Nadiyah Byard Nadiyah Byard 6'0" | PF Griffin | 2022 State GA steps on the floor, you know it. She’s loud as she directs traffic on defense and supports her teammates. Byard is a glue-guy that has a ton of upside on defense. She’s quick enough to guard multiple positions and does a nice job rebounding. Byard has a quick release and was able to knock down some baseline jumpers. The joy Byard plays with is always apparent. 2023 5-6 G Lexi Pierce Lexi Pierce Lexi Pierce 5'6" | PG Lumpkin County | 2023 State GA – Lumpkin County Lexi Pierce Lexi Pierce Lexi Pierce 5'6" | PG Lumpkin County | 2023 State GA stood out with her tough on-ball defense. She moved her feet well and played solid without fouling. She could pressure the ball and turn ballhandlers. On offense, she made smart cuts to the basket and never forced any bad shots. Even in a camp setting where players could tend to be selfish, she still managed to play within the offense. She rebounded well for her size as well.
