Continue ReadingWell people, defensive stoppers are the most important pieces to the team for me in the scheme of things, they are the kids that set the tone in the game and keep it like that most of the time. A great defender can make you give the ball up and disrupt the offense and keep the other team either from getting the ball inside to the dominant post or just keeping the guards and forwards away from the rim. Either way it goes, I believe the great defender is the key to it all in the game as a whole, whoever has defensive stoppers and good offensive skills on the other side will always have a better chance to win the game. These kids are my defensive stoppers, some were on my Block Shots article, but hey, they deserve it anyway if it is repetition. Hope you enjoy the evaluations on these girls.
2021, 6’4, PF, Lynwood HS, Rayah Marshall Rayah Marshall 6'4" | PF Lynwood | 2021 State #14 Nation CA – (Committed to USC) – Rayah is the total package if you ask anyone in the girls basketball arena, she is skilled in many ways, such as handles, she can pass, she can rebound and she is a threat to score from all three level on the floor. She is aggressive, she is athletic, she is a beast on the floor and always on the attack to get a bucket for her team. Rayah blocks shots, she changes shots and will chase a player down on the break and block the shot off the backboard, just relentless in our book.
2021, 5’9, SG, Corona Centennial HS, Trinity San Antonio Trinity San Antonio 5'9" | SG Corona Centennial | 2021 State CA – (Committed to Cal Baptist) Trinity is a special player for her team, she is the defensive stopper that came to play at Corona Centennial. She can score by getting to the rim, she can shoot the midrange shot, but she is not taking the three pointers much, which makes since. She is the third scorer on this team and she is spending much of time stopping the best player on the the other team.
2021, 5’7, PG, Bonita Vista (San Diego) HS, Sylena Peterson Sylena Peterson 5'7" | PG Bonita Vista HS | 2021 State CA (Committed to New Mexico State) – Sylena is another smooth guard with a nice skill set in her bag, she is tough, she is athletic. Her skill set is impressive; her handles are nice, her floater game is nice and she is dangerous from behind the three point line. Sylena is one of the best guard in San Diego and she shows it each and every night for her team.
2021, 6’3, PF/C, Sierra Canyon HS, Theresa Berry Theresa Berry 6'2" | C Sierra Canyon | 2021 State CA – TT as they call her is the beast in the paint that is going to work hard for you and rebound, block shots and give you energy on the floor. She scored in the paint, she gave the team great defense, she changed shots in the paint against the bigger college girls and was able to mix it up and keep the bigger girls off the boards. Ran the floor well and set some crashing screens for her teammates, she is a team player, this kid has a big upside for this season.
2021, 6’0, SF, Corona Centennial HS, Katherine Shipp Katherine Shipp 6'0" | C Corona Centennial | 2021 State CA – Katherine is a pretty good in the paint player, she can rebound with the best of them, she can put back after a good rebound. She is very athletic and can run the floor like a gazelle, giving her an advantage over her opponents. She blocks shots, she can get to the rim and she is skilled out to the midrange. She is a pretty good athlete for her team.
