Several teams and players from across the country were in attendance, including a few from Southern California. Here’s a look at some additional SoCal talent who took part in the event.
1. Theresa Berry Theresa Berry 6'2" | C Sierra Canyon | 2021 State CA – Sierra Canyon 2021
Berry is poised to have a big senior year. She’s a physical presence in the paint and can help replicate some of the inside play that they lost from their graduating seniors. She has good footwork in the post and is a solid rebounder. She moves well on the court. She’s also able to shoot a little bit from the midrange. She’s going to be counted on this year for senior leadership on a very young team.
2. Alexis Pettis Alexis Pettis 5'3" | PG Palisades | 2021 State CA – Palisades 2021
The explosive guard is one of the top scorers in the SoCal area. An Eastern Washington commit, Pettis can get to where she wants to on the court. She’s a solid ballhandler and her strength lies in her ability to get to the rim. Good at drawing contact and getting to the free-throw line. She can shoot too with range out to three. Mainly a shooting guard, but can play a little point at times as well.
3. Rylei Waugh – Westchester 2023
To me, Waugh is one of the most intriguing prospects in the SoCal area. She had a strong impact for the Comets right away as a freshman last season. She’s also an explosive guard who can do a little bit of everything on the court. She’s incredibly quick and can shoot off the bounce or get all the way to the rim. A good facilitator who plays unselfishly. She’s also a good defender on the wings. High potential.
4. Chloe Briggs Chloe Briggs 6'0" | SF Ontario Christian HS | 2023 State CA – Ontario Christian 2023
Briggs is a player I first watched a year ago at a Cal Storm event. She hadn’t yet played a high school basketball game, but she immediately stood out as a good scoring guard, who also has some playmaking abilities. She’s a solid playmaker in transition always looking for teammates on a fast break. She can also make a proper post entry pass in half court sets. A good rebounder for a guard who attacks the glass and can start the break herself.
