The event featured players from California, Utah, Nevada, and Washington. Quite a few players from Southern California were in attendance, and I was able to follow along through social media livestreaming.
Here’s a quick look at some of the top standouts from Southern California.
1 Mariah Overby Mariah Overby 5'8" | PG Mayfair | 2022 State CA – Mayfair 2022
Overby has good size for a wing. She’s very strong too and can finish at the rim with through contact. She’s really comfortable with the basketball in her hands. She can attack defenders off the dribble and get to the rim, or she can stop and hit a little pull-up jumper. Has range out to the three-point line. Solid player in transition. Pretty good catch and shoot player too. Has a pretty advanced offensive package.
2 Mariah Elohim Mariah Elohim 5'9" | SF Westlake Village HS | 2022 State CA – Westlake 2022
Elohim is another wing with a strong offensive game. She has a smooth jumpshot with a quick release. She has good footwork around the rim and is an athletic finisher in traffic. She can play either forward position. At the four, she can stretch the floor and draw the defense out to the perimeter. She’s able to handle the ball, especially on the break. Solid defensive player and rebounder too.
3 Samantha Collins – JW North 2021
Collins is a bit of a versatile big who should be in line for a strong senior year. She has very solid looking jump shot for a big and can step out and knock down shots from three-point range. She is a good free-throw shooter too. A big body who can take up space in the lane. She’s a strong rebounder, especially on the offensive end to secure extra possessions.
4 Keilani Peralta – Camarillo 2023
Peralta has a knack for being able to move without the ball. She’s a sniper from long range and does well to get herself open on the perimeter. Can knock down the corner three. She’s definitely one of the better three-point shooters in the SoCal area. She’s got a little bit more to her game though than just shooting. She can put the ball on the floor and she can make plays off the dribble at times.
