Abbie Bishop Abbie Bishop 5'6" | CG Spartanburg Christian | 2021 State SC (SG, 2021) seemed to be involved in most plays on the court. She was pushing the ball up the court herself or shooting a three point shot. She followed the shots in order to grab rebounds and continue possessions. Her ability to let plays develop and get a nice pass into her teammate shows her high IQ. She does a great job creating separation to show off her shot. She was hitting some big time shots down the stretch of the game for her team whether it was a three pointer, or she was fighting against contact near the basket. She jumped into passing lanes on defense in order to obtain the possession again for her team.
Sam Toney (G, 2021) had great vision of the court always finding her open teammates. She positioned herself where she needed to in order to make the best pass into her teammates, and she did this well at high speeds, too. She tracked the ball grabbing loose balls. She can drive against any kind of contact that is waiting for her underneath the basket. She grabbed some important steals for her team to make sure the opponents didn’t score, and she added her own old fashioned three point play to extend the lead.
Madelyn Galloway (G, 2021) was one of the main ball handlers for Spartanburg, and she showed how she can blow by her opponents using speed or hesitation moves in order for her to score. She came right out in the second half blowing by defenders in the paint to extend the lead for her team. Her ability to drive against anyone was effective for her team and shows how well she sees the floor.
Mackenzie Spivey Mackenzie Spivey 5'9" | SG Spartanburg Christian | 2021 State SC ’s (SG/SF, 2021) toughness was on display in the 4th quarter fighting through contact and earning some trips to the free throw line. Her ability to convert those free throws to points helped increase the lead for her team trying to put the game away, and she even had an old fashioned three point play to extend her team’s lead. She was her team’s leading scorer in the Diamonds Classic earning her the Most Valuable Player award.
Kaycee Smith Kaycee Smith 6'1" | C Spartanburg Christian | 2022 State SC (F/C, 2022) made her presence known inside with some nice second chance opportunities. She made great cuts in the lane and down to the block finding the gaps of the defense in order for her to score. Smith also did a good job making cuts with and without the ball. She could score off of a pass, or she can create her own play with her ball handling. She was a terror on defense causing deflections and making it difficult for the opponents to get an offense going.
