Ryan Swilling (Charlotte Christian, G, 2022) is a name you need to know. She is one of the main ball handlers for Charlotte Christian because she handles it well under any kind of pressure. She has a nice shot from behind the arc, too, and you know that since every opposing coach yells “shooter” when she has the ball. She follows her shot as well, so she can have another opportunity to score if she misses. She is a terror on defense making sure guards have to work for every possession.
Nora Schroeder Nora Schroeder 5'11" | SF Charlotte Christian | 2022 NC (Charlotte Christian, F, 2022) uses her length to constantly find ways to contribute whether she is grabbing steals, causing deflections, or coming up with athletic blocks that no opponent seems to have found a way to avoid. She follows shots to make sure she is the one who grabs rebounds. She uses these opportunities for second chance points. She can drive to the basket as well fighting through contact. She had some critical three point shots down the stretch coming out hot in the second half to make sure her team gains the lead. Her put backs also increased the lead for her team scoring some important points to put her opponent away.
Jacquelyn DeJesse Jacquelyn DeJesse 5'5" | PG Chestnut Park | 2022 NC (Charlotte Christian, G, 2022) was another ball handler for the Knights who controlled the tempo for her team. She has a nice shot from outside as well, and she knew when to show that off or drive and pull up for a jump shot instead. She can also drive all the way to the basket herself and does so well, especially in transition. There’s also a reason she was constantly tasked with guarding the opponents’ best players as she is a lockdown defender making it hard for guards to score or even drive around her.
Rachel Noonan (Charlotte Christian, F, 2022) is another tall athlete that knows how to use her length to get her way close to the basket. She is constantly moving around in the paint making herself available for her teammates. She goes after the rebounds as well using her length to put the ball back for some points, and she even scores from beyond the arc. On defense, her length certainly comes in handy causing deflections and grabbing steals in order for her team to gain the possession again.
