Continue ReadingI caught George Ranch during the preseason for a half, they have some PGH Texas Top 100 players already listed as well as another coming up however this was going to be my first look at Seven Lakes who have one of the top freshmen in the city, state, and country, I said this before Blue Star wrote anything, please remember I copy no one because I kind of don’t care and have to see for myself so here are those standouts, I’ll drop a part 2 later today
Seven Lakes
Addison Poth-5’5 G senior
Poth made my Tip Sheet years ago with her twin sister Ashton back in the 4th grade and although the story didn’t transfer over when I changed my website, I remember what I said almost verbatim. Ashton isn’t playing anymore due to nagging injuries but Addison was huge in their win, playing with the poise I saw at that very young age as well as scoring big baskets, including at least 3 from bta to thwart several runs from George Ranch and stop their momentum
Lily Baumgardner-5’11 F senior
Baumgardner made her presence felt immediately playing the passing lane and with a few steals to help get the Spartans going yet she continued doing that throughout the game, as well as showing the pull-up jumper not to leave out attacking the rim, either straight down the middle or slicing to the rim for baskets from the wing. Her ability to create that jumper under pressure was nice and she too came up with some big baskets
Justice Carlton Justice Carlton 6'1" | PF Seven Lakes | 2024 State TX -6/2 P/PF freshman
Carlton started off her career with a tear, scoring over 100 points in her first three games and watching her poise under that basket, her hands and footwork tell some of the story yet she understands how to pin the defensive player, let me drop #THROWBACK in there and square up for the easy baskets from either side of the rim. Her athleticism also showed as she blocked the inbound pass, raced to get it, took two dribbles, and threw a pass 40 feet in traffic on the money for an assist, oh her outlet passes after rebounds were impressive
George Ranch
Amillion Fowler Amillion Fowler 5'9" | SF George Ranch | 2021 State TX -5’10 G/SF senior
Fowler is one of the states most athletic players that can actually play basketball and she can take defenders at Will off the dribble and show no Grace however her body control enables her to finish gracefully, this was shown even before high school but let me add her outside shooting, mid to long-range. has been a treat to watch emerge over the years, that shows she’s been working and by her being long and athletic and creating her shot, not to leave out elevating over defenders, was on display
Gabrielle Owens-5’11 PF senior
Owen would be on my Most Improved team if I had one because she has gone from basically a back to the basket player to someone that can create her shot and hit it, the midrange was clicking the start of the club season, the long ball just went over and beyond in the middle and her “catch and shoot” has been added since the latter part and it was shown last night, not to leave out her finishes in the paint with either hand
