Below is a list of players who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these prospects have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the following conference’s.
Badger- North: Baraboo, Beaver Dam, DeForest, Mount Horeb, Portage, Reedsburg, Sauk Prairie, Waunakee.
Badger- South: Edgewood, Fort Atkinson, Milton, Monona Grove, Monroe, Oregon, Stoughton, Watertown.
Taylor Pfaff Taylor Pfaff 5'7" | CG Baraboo | 2023 WI | Baraboo | 5’7 Sophomore
Pfaff is an underrated lead guard that can do a little bit of everything for this team. She possesses a very snappy handle with quick fast-twitch muscles. She catches defenders off guard with the speed of her first step, and she is an explosive player out of the triple threat. She is averaging nearly 14 points per game. In a game against Westfield, Pfaff finished with 21 points.
Aniika Braund | Sauk Prairie | 5’9 Sophomore
Braund is primarily a post player for this team but has shown glimpses of being comfortable on the perimeter and handling the ball. She utilizes her speed to score before the defender is set- which is a great trait to have being an undersized forward. She has choppy feet, and she does well pivoting to get an open jumper. She has a clean pull-up jumper with a quick motion into her shot- she has strength with the ball. Braund is averaging 7.5 points per game. The sophomore finished with 12 points in a win over Baraboo.
Gabby Wilke Gabby Wilke 6'1" | PF Beaver Dam | 2024 State WI | Beaver Dam | 6’1 Freshman
Wilke is already a tremendous post presence in the paint, both offensively and defensively. She is an elite athlete for her position, she can blow by defenders if given space. She has good ball skills and ample dribble- making her a very dangerous post prospect. She is great at reading help-side defense, she works well with her guards to get open in the paint. This season she is averaging 8 points per game. She can shoot the three and rebound the ball. She finished with 15 points in a victory over Waupun. Wilke holds an offer from Milwaukee.
Emma Kreuziger | Portage | 5’10 Senior
The senior is averaging nearly 7 points per game. She is probably one of the most unselfish players in this conference. She has open shots that would be a good opportunity to score, but she passes them up because she sees a teammate who has a great opportunity to score. She has a great basketball IQ, and one can tell she understands the game very well as she sees plays unfold before they actually happen. She’s the ultimate team player. Her ability to find her teammates on a dime is very impressive.
Trenna Cherney Trenna Cherney 5'10" | SF Reedsburg | 2022 State WI | Reedsburg | 5’10 Junior
Cherney is an offensively advanced post that can step out and be an impact from behind the arc. She has improved her shooting consistency and shot selection this season. She has a great feel for the game when she is on the floor. She is elite off the catch and can drive effectively. Cherney does a successful job creating contact and finishing strong in the lane. She is averaging 12 points per game. In a win over Tomah, Cherney finished with 18 points.
Avalon Uecke | Watertown | 6’1 Senior
The senior has helped her team to some key wins so far this season. She has a large frame, and has added some muscle this season. This allows her to play the traditional big man role of playing physically down low. Her body also gives her the ability to box out defenders easily, and her long wingspan enables her to snatch rebounds even with a defender draped all over her. She is great at playing tall, her hands are constantly up on both ends. She is averaging 11 points per game. In a game against Wilmot, Uecke finished with 18 points.
Breanna Giasson | Monroe | 6’1 Junior
The junior scored 10 points in her game against Elkhorn. She shows great athleticism on the floor. She pulls off impressive shots and is able to get herself open well within the offense. She is dominant in transition, both offensively and defensively. She is improving her play on the block and adding fundamental aspects to her game. She has quick downhill speed for her size, and patient before taking a shot. She also grabbed 6 rebounds in the game against Elkorn and had a key blocked shot.
Amber Grosse Amber Grosse 5'10" | SF Edgewood | 2022 State WI | Edgewood | 5’10 Junior
The junior is averaging nearly 8 points per game. In a tough game against Lake Mills, Grosse finished with a season-high 16 points. Grosse is a physical player with a high ceiling. She has all the aspects that you cannot teach in a game- size, build, athleticism, and natural strength. She is a dominating force on the court and I think we have only seen glimpses of how elite she can be at this level. She has great awareness and a natural ability to high point the ball; this will prove to be effective when she matches up against other skilled post players. She has long arms which give her the capability to be a strong shot blocker at the next level.
Elly Kohl | Fort Atkinson | 5’7 Sophomore
Kohl is a mature prospect that possesses a great understanding for the game at her age. She has great size and length for the combo guard position, and she has more than ideal height for the point guard position. She seems comfortable leading the offense and being the token floor general for this team. She is smart and interacts with the game like a veteran. She pick-pockets guards and reads passing lanes well to make steals. She draws a lot of attention when attacking the hoop and has down well dishing it to the open teammate. Kohl is averaging 6 points per game. In a game against Edgewood she finished with 12 points.
