Prospects that are able to contribute in multiple ways are extremely difficult to deal with. It’s become increasingly important for individuals to develop well-rounded styles of play rather than focusing on one skillset, especially on the offensive end of the floor.
With that in mind, here are some of the best all-around offensive weapons I’ve seen through the first half of the season:
Evie Goetz Evie Goetz 5'11" | SF Denton Guyer | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 6’1’’ Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Denton Guyer HS – Goetz can get a bucket from anywhere on the court. The TCU commit is a terrific shooter from behind the arc and a savvy scorer from mid-range. She is also outstanding off the drive and wise enough to use her size advantage in the post when she notices a mismatch. Furthermore, she is a fantastic facilitator who is able to see over the defense and initiate offense.
Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TX | 2023 | 5’8’’ Point Guard | Little Elm HS – Kimpson is so good at taking what the defense gives her and adjusting accordingly. She is an incredibly efficient scorer from all three levels. Even when opposing defenses are doubling her and forcing the ball out of her hands, she finds ways to put the ball in the basket without forcing bad looks from the field. The sophomore guard is one of the best shot-makers in the state and possesses the ablity to single-handedly take over games.
Peyton Mosley | 2022 | 5’9’’ Point Guard | Prosper HS – Mosley has emerged as a dynamic floor general during the first half of her junior season. She has posted some eye-catching stat lines and knows how to hurt opposing teams in a variety of ways. The Prosper guard is a brilliant passer who sees the floor well and finds teammates with pinpoint accuracy. As a scorer, Mosley is a solid spot-up three-point shooter and a crafty finisher when attacking off the dribble.
Jules LaMendola Jules LaMendola 5'10" | SF Coppell | 2023 State TX | 2023 | 6’0’’ Small Forward | Coppell HS – LaMendola possesses a diverse skillset on offense. The junior forward gets to her spots and converts. She can knock down pull-up mid-range jumpers in the half court as well as glide into the paint for layups. Additionally, she is the primary ball-handler for Coppell and a generous distributor who keeps her teammates involved and has a knack for getting the ball to her bigs down low. Beyond that, LaMendola also contributes on the offensive glass thanks to her size.
Isabella Earle Isabella Earle 5'8" | SG Denton Guyer | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 5’10’’ Combo Guard | Denton Guyer HS – Earle is a true combo guard who is dangerous when playing both on and away from the ball on offense. She is an excellent three-point shooter from the catch, makes timely cuts to the basket for gimme layups, and finishes strong at the rim. When operating as a lead guard, Earle is a crafty ball handler and a cunning passer who makes smart decisions with the basketball and can dish out some fancy assists.
Jamia Harris Jamia Harris 5'7" | SG DeSoto | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 5’8’’ Shooting Guard | DeSoto HS – Harris is a versatile scorer. She is great at creating for herself and has the ability to bury shots from any location on the court. The 2022 prospect is equally good when attacking the basket off the dribble. Her shot selection keeps defenders guessing and allows her to pick her poison. If you overplay her as a shooter she is going to kill you off the drive, and vice versa.
Adrianna McCoy | 2022 | Combo Guard | Frisco Reedy HS – McCoy has lightning quickness and a good combination of inside and outside scoring. The sophomore guard keeps defenders on their heels with her ability to burst through openings and possesses deep-range from the perimeter. She is elusive on the drive and has a nice collection of floaters and runners that she can utilize against taller defenders as well. In addition, McCoy is very comfortable as the ball handler in pick-and-roll scenarios.
Amaria Fields Amaria Fields 6'1" | SG McKinney North | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 6’1’’ Shooting Guard | McKinney North HS – Fields is a mid-range assassin and a fearless shooter. Her size allows her to shoot over defenders with ease and she is able to hit difficult jumpers on the move even when there is a hand in her face. The 6-foot-1-inch two-guard is a smooth operator off the drive too. She utilizes her long strides to glide into the paint with ease and is a great finisher in transition as well as in the half court. She can also dominate the offensive glass when she wants to thanks to her height and length.
Zoe Jackson Zoe Jackson 5'8" | CG Allen | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 5’8’’ Point Guard | Allen HS – Jackson is tremendous at manipulating the defense with her dribble in order to create for herself and others. The Butler commit is a high-IQ player who does a good job of balancing her scoring and playmaking responsibilities as Allen’s lead guard. She knows how to get defenders off balance and out of position with her handle and can attack opponents with her twitchy first step or by finding an open teammate. She consistently makes winning plays at the offensive end.
