With the 2021 basketball season under way in Kentucky finally. I have been able to get out and see some teams play. These are the players on the teams that I saw that stood out to me.
Danville High School
Jenna Akers-2021- Jenna is a tough quick guard with a very good shot. In the game I watched her play she knocked down four threes from deep. She finished that game with 21 points. She plays with a lot of poise and energy. Jenna came up with a lot of steals defensively as well. She is currently averaging 9.3 points per game on a very strong balanced scoring team. She has a high basketball IQ.
Lara Akers-2021- Lara is the twin sister of Jenna. Just like her sister she can make shots from deep as well. Lara is currently averaging 11 points per game on balanced scoring attack team. Lara’s speed helps her come up with steals. She does a good job of getting up and down the floor to get spotted up. Plays with a good basketball IQ.
Camryn Preston-2021- Camryn was big in the game I watched nearly getting a triple double. She finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Preston plays strong and physical. She does a great job on the glass. She currently leads the team in rebounding. Camryn is that glue player for Danville. She does the dirty work.
Love Mays-2022- Love is currently leading the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game. She is a very capable shooter from deep. She doesn’t take many, but is very effective when she does. Mays plays with a lot of energy and toughness.
Desiree Tandy-2023- Desiree is a very fast guard who attacks the defense off the dribble. The way she attacks keep her at the free throw line. She currently leads the team in attempts. Her speed makes her a good lockdown defender. She is currently averaging 9.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game. She is going to be hard to handle when she starts knocking down shots more consistently.
